I've noticed that a few of you don't have avatars yet. An avatar can be pretty much any image although, if you look at the size of the circular boxes that the avatar is presented in, you'll see that it might best not to include one that requires a lot of detail, such as a group photo or something. If choosing a photo, it doesn't actually have to be of you, but pick one where the face is roughly centered in the photo. Pretty much any other image will work, as well. There may be limits on the size that the forum software will allow, as I haven't looked into that yet, but if it will accept it, the software will resize it to fit the box. To change your avatar, click on your profile (upper right). You should be presented with a pop-up selection of pages. Choose the one that reads, "Personal Details." Click on the default image to change your avatar. You will then be prompted to choose an image from somewhere on your computer. In this section, you will see other options, such as gender options, where you may choose for that to be unspecified to other members of the forum. You may also opt to show only the day and month of your birth, so that people can wish you a happy birthday, to show only the year of your birth, both, or neither. If you wish, you may also tell us a little bit about yourself. When you're through, don't forget to click the "Save Changes" button near the bottom.
@Pat Baker , I love your avatar. I've got a few of those dummies sitting around which I sometimes use as models in my photos, but they haven't seen much use lately. With a little time and effort they can be persuaded to do some really interesting things. I used to have one of them in my avatar at another site years ago.
I really like the design of the site, and how your profile picture is circular instead of a square (like most sites), it gives a much more relaxed feeling. Good job!
If you haven't already, please upload an avatar. It does not have to be a photo of yourself, it can be pretty much any image or graphic, but everything looks so temporary without one.
I put up my avatar with the help from my blogging mentor. She said people like to see whose behind the computer, who they are chatting with.
I've noticed that a lot of our new members don't have avatars. While they are not required, an avatar does make it much easier for people to follow your posts, and it makes the forum more attractive.
I am unable to add my avatar. It is "stored" by a site which assigns urls to images from one's computer (servimg.com). Must I save it to my computer, to place it in the forum as my avatar? Thanks! Frank
lI don't' know. Can you take a pic of yourself or you and your wife and post it as your avatar? Or one of the beautiful river in the area you two are in or somewhere else? My fav place there is the River Bell Casino. Haven't been there is 10 or 12 years.
Well, Linda, I have lots of pics, but stored as urls outside my PC. I have also a revealed backside. Somebody will be a'talkin. Maybe Ken will help out. All OK up in them mountains? Frank
Yes, I'm keeping it all under control here. Just came in from the firepit. Sat out there for hours with hubby, bro and 3 of the grand kids who are all in their early 20s. Pretty fun night. Now we are inside watching TV.
Try this...Open up your url picture..Right click on it and select "Save Image As". Select where on your PC you want to save it..
You will need to upload the file to SENIORSonly Club forum. You can do that, as @Ken N Louis suggests, by right-clicking on the image, wherever it is stored, and saving it to your computer, then uploading it here from the Avatar section. You can then delete the file from your computer if you wish, as it doesn't have to remain there. Another option that is supported here is a gravatar, which is something that began as a WordPress thing, I think. You can learn more about gravatars here.
