We watched Jurassic World the other night. It was an IMAX theater and 3D too so it is quite an experience considering it was my first time to watch a movie in an IMAX theater. It is a science fiction movie involving dinosaurs so you can imagine the visual effects of the movie. Most of the fight scenes involved dinosaurs.

With the story, hmm, not excellent because there are so many questions left hanging in my mind. And the coincidences are so remote to happen in real life. Overall, that movie is an entertaining one in terms of the visuals but the story is just so so.

What type of movie do you watch?

I really enjoy silly comedy movies. You know, the ones that started coming out in 2005 and they haven't stopped since. They mostly feature Adam Sandler, and while everyone hates them, I seem to have never grown up, so I still love those silly and stupid jokes.

Apart from that, I really enjoy good action movies. As relaxed as I am concerning comedy movies, I am really pretentious when it comes to action moves. For example, I can't stand the ones with corny writing, cliches and "shaky-cam" action sequences where you can't really see what is going on.
One good example of a brilliant action movie released recently is John Wick, which I absolutely loved!

@John Donovan, I also love those comedy movies but the best is Mr. Bean. His latest, Johnny English, was really a hit over here. For me, movies are made for entertainment and comedy is the best entertainment there is. For action comedy, my favorite is Jacky Chan particularly in the ending credits when the behind the scenes footages were shown. Whenever I would watch a Jacky Chan movie, I was never disappointed.

You are like my husband when it comes to action. He would always criticize. That's what he did when we watched Fast and Furious 7. He was always mumbling the word impossible. But in fairness to my husband, he is a good film analyst.

Haha, I totally forgot about Rowan Atkinson's work! He is absolutely hilarious, and his face is what makes it all come together!

As for Fast and Furious 7, I kinda "suspended my disbelief" during that movie, as I knew it was a final parting gift to Paul Walker, who was a fantastic actor.

Sci-fi and action movies for me. Anything with starships, robots, explosions, time travel, dystopian societies or improbably cloned dinosaurs will do. Also enjoyed many of the old rom-coms from the eighties and nineties but nothing (that I'm aware of) of that caliber is being made today.

I like action movies, syfy and heartfelt drama are the types of shows I like to watch. I don't like movies that have a lot of gross killing, bad words or humans for dinner.

Like @Peter Remington , I am inclined toward science fiction, dystopian societies, and the like. I like fantasies but only if they are well done, and not the sort of thing that is generally produced for very young children. I saw the Neverending Story movies as an adult and enjoyed them, as I did the Lord of the Rings movies. However, I can enjoy most any kind of movie that has a solid plot and is well acted. One exception is musicals. Once someone starts singing and they are not standing on a stage, I'm out of there. Even then, there are exceptions, Chicago being one of them.

It depends on my mood. If I need an escape a thriller or action flick helps a lot. I watched Escape Plan yesterday and it was good, although there was a bit too much time on the prison scenes. I enjoy romantic comedies, but good ones seem few and far between these days, since everything has to involved graphic sex. I actually don't mind bad language, since I have a potty mouth myself, but sometimes even that is too much, and it becomes nonsensical. I had HBO/Cinemax free this past weekend, and started watching The Counselor, but turned it off after a few minutes. I did think Let's Be Cops was pretty funny, though, and would probably watch it again. I watched The Fault in Our Stars finally, at a friend's urging, and it was okay for a teen movie, but I'm not a big fan of movies about cancer, since it's killed just about everyone in my family.

We watched Max last night. It is the story of an orphaned k-9 dog whose handler died during their stint in Afghanistan. The movie is actually a family drama among brothers and sons which the dog had changed for the better. The scenes are very natural when it comes to that dog particularly the dog fight when Max, a Belgian Malinois, battled with a big-bodied rottweiller. The issue of gun running is also included so it's not just an ordinary dog story.

The story is good, the script looked okay except for some typicalities like the cops coming in after the action scenes were over. However, the cinematography has a problem with the lighting that in some scenes, the lighting seems to be having a voltage problem.

I like movies that scare me. Sometimes I'm in the mood where a Freddy slasher will do it, sometimes a reality type murder mystery crazy forensics type movie, will do it. I just love having a reaction to a movie (other than crying)...

I like time travel movies, and also some of the si-fi movies. Most of the time, I like dramas with a lot of twists and turns to the plot, and I don't like movies with a lot of killing and fighting, and NOTHING that is about war.
I do not like most of the newer movies because often they are just too gruesome in their depiction of things.
Anything about zombies and such as that , are totally out.
My all-time favirite movie is "Frequency", starring Dennis Quaid. I also liked "Life of Pi" , with its surprise ending.

Westerns and WW2. Old and new, doesn't matter. Guess that's why I love my Netflix and Amazon prime. The last two days it has rained cats and dogs, ( I know cause I just stepped in a poodle) sorry :(
And, if you don't like the movie, delete and go on to the next one.

I am much like you, and playing "You Don't Mess with the Zohan" over and over on a daily basis. I used to like all movie genres with no predilection at all, but since about a decade or so, I prefer to stick to comedies because we have already enough real-life drama to get more from films.

When I was younger, I liked Adventure, sci-fi, and horror movies too, but I have left these genres for games that I still like to play on my PlayStation 1 video console. When it comes to movies, I believe the industry has exhausted all the stories and mixed them with sex and violence that not always fit in.

Other than this, I also like to watch classic movies on TV, basically from the 1980s and backward.

I am glad that you enjoyed watching the movie.
My favourite genre of movies is science-fiction or either historical drama.
