I'm gonna ask my doc about something to help me sleep, today when I see her. 2-3 hours a night just ain't enough.

Good morning to all you early birds. I slept till 6:30 this morning, although I couldn't get to sleep until after 1:00am.

@Chrissy Page , yes Bobert is still here. Why, I'm not sure. He came for a couple of weeks, which has turn into more than two months. He plays video games all night on his Xbox, and sleeps most of the day. But he does keep up with this 2/3rds of an acer I still have. I don't bother him, and he gives me my space as well. I don't know how long he is planning to stay. I admit just knowing he is around helps with my depression, I dread when he leaves and I'm alone in this big old house again.

One thing I took one time was Lunesta, which is all natural, but it is an expensive medication. Even with insurance it was over 100 bucks. The doc I had in Norther Virginia had a ton of samples he gave me one time though. I had a 3 weeks supply I didn't have to pay for. So, that was a benefit. Maybe they have it available in generic now, I am not sure.

Good morning everyone, very hot today, 108! The whole week will be hot and I have to go somewhere almost every day.

Sleep is very important to me and thankfully I'm finally getting my 8+ hours. The last month has been hard and now I'm just getting my energy back but temps of 108 don't help.

    Have a great day!!

Mornin'. It's 2am, 57 degrees and clear out there in beautiful downtown notch city. Got my 2 1/2 hours sleep in already. Don't know what I'll do yet today. Maybe something wild and crazy. most likely, nothing at all.
My doc appointment went well yesterday. Tomorrow is the one in another town. I hate riding all that way for just a quick check. Don't know why there isn't someone in my town who could check out my pacemaker.
Well, I'm hungry. Gonna see what I can find that's quick and easy. Could really go for a big plate of biscuits and sausage gravy. The kind the old Sports Page restaurant used to have, with lots of sausage chunks in the gravy, and the plate sized home made biscuits.
    Later.:)

Good morning, I'm up way too early. 2:00 am. So hot here, woke to turn on air and then couldn't sleep.

107 today, the house has a hard time cooling off after a few days of these temps. This was the first I had to wake up and turn on air during the night. The house temp was at 81 at 1:30 am.

It's going to be a long day for me. :(

Good Morning, Y'all. I hope everyone who needs it is able to take a nap today. I might try to take one in a bit. As usual, the neighbors woke me up when their unrestrained dog went after the cats in my driveway again. If I had extra money lying around, I'd buy her some leashes as a not so subtle hint. I'd really hate for something to happen to their dogs, but I'm not going to put up with attacks on the cats. The sunrise was pretty through the trees this morning. They always seem to be a bit more vibrant after storms. My flowers were really waterlogged yesterday, but have since perked right up, and are looking beautiful through my window. I'm hoping today's a bit quieter on the weather front than yesterday, since I have to take my cat for her follow up after the surgery. At least I didn't lose power, unlike some of my neighbors, but I think it's been restored to everyone by now. Have a great day, everyone!

Hey everyone. I realize it's the morning thread, but it's already afternoon. My day's pretty much shot... decided to be a nice Mama and go with my daughter for a quick dentist visit. Woohoo... will I never learn?! Hmmm... "quick" wasn't quick at all, and the routine visit turned into surgery, sutures, and post op instructions for the rest of the day and tomorrow.

In other news :D how are ya'll doing today? It's going to be hot here, but nowhere near what Chrissy is getting! Probably mid 80s.

I'm finally having my "morning" coffee... ordered four different kinds of k-cups from Amazon and they arrived yesterday... so far I've liked ever one of them... no bitterness, and that's rare. Haven't tried one of the kinds yet. Any recommendations for new and exotic k-cups? (not flavored coffee, though.)

Mornin'. Looks a bit rainy out there, here on Iowa's east bank. Humidity is up too. I can tell by my breathing.
Today is the dreaded road trip day. Gotta travel upriver 35-40 miles to see a doc for about 5 minutes.
I got a bad case of the hungry's. In my mind I see a big sausage patty, with cheese and egg on a slice of Texas garlic toast. Add a thick slice of onion and top it with another slice of garlic toast. Toss a couple cinnamon rolls on the side and a mug of strong, black coffee, and I could be happy the rest of the day.
In reality though, I won't get any of that, 'cept the coffee.
Yesterday I let you in on my favorite way to pass time, or daydream. I often have another one that I stumbled on by accident.
I used to roam about my area in my truck. And on some of these trips, I would discover old unmaintained dirt roads. Most were about a mile or so long. All were rutted and rough, usually ending on another road.
I loved the solitude of these long forgotten roads, winding between fields and pastures, over hills and past dilapidated barns and ruins of houses.
I like to imagine driving down one of these old roads and passing through a time warp, back to another age. Round a bend and there ahead are men, horses pulling wagons and buggies, and neat buildings and farmyards, all of a bygone age. I think, if that ever happened, I would never come back.
Enough dreaming. I gotta eat something.

Good morning everyone! Slept my 8+ hours today so a good start. Still hot but not as hot, only 104 today.

Have to go out today also, so will do it early. Tomorrow is my D Day or dreaded day, I have an EKG and everyone says they're a piece of cake but I'm still anxious about it.

I hate all this medicare wellness crap. I always feel you're well til you get some tests done then you have something wrong with you.

The EKG will be over before you even know it, @Chrissy Page ! ! They do them every time I go to see my cardiologist, and every single day (at least once) when I was in the hospital.
All it is is sticking a bunch of sensors all over your chest, tummy, and one on each leg usually, and then the machine records everything for about 30 seconds, about the time of one breath. The longest part is getting all of the little sticky sensors put and then taken back off again.
You will wonder why you ever worried about it.

What will it show @Yvonne Smith ?

If my dr listens to my heart every visit and usually listens all along my body at different pulse points, and she was never concerned could an EKG find something else?

As long as your doctor was not concerned about anything that she was hearing when she listened to your heart, I think that it is not likely that it would find something else; but it possibly could pinpoint something that she missed, @Chrissy Page .
I had an irregular heartbeat because of the a-fib; but the operation stopped that. You would probably know if your heart was out of the regular rhythm , even if it was only part of the time.
If you search EKG, you can see what the little graph looks like that the machine makes from your heartbeats. The EKG measures the electrical impulses .
Your doctor should be able to explain what all they can check for besides A-fib, that is what they watched for in mine. Now, I just have the congestive heart failure, and I think that they can tell about that with the EKG , too; but I am not sure.
It is not something that should be affected by the stress you are going through with losing your mom; but it is still good to let them know that you have been under stress from that, anyway.

Most of the Medicare wellness tests are just basic things, and they offer them free every year, or some every 2-3 years.
I think that once you have had them done, you will be glad because it will reassure you that you are all in good health, You can also try the tapping for your anxiety about having the test and that should help relieve it. It has been working good for me .
I will say a prayer for you, too.

Mornin'. Yesterday went well enough. Had a doc appointment in another city. So, my grandson and daughter drove me there, a long ride for a 5 minute visit with the doc. But, everything turned out as it should.
This weekend looks good, here in the land of corn and bacon. Our weather is cooler and no rain in the forecast. All is well.
I have no weekend plans. Just gonna kick back and watch things go by. There should be a parade at some point.
These days, every loud 'BANG' is thought to be a gunshot by the nervous Nellies out there. I imagine there will be lots of 'gunshot' reports this weekend.
We used to tape M-80's to sides of bottles filled with gasoline, back in my fun filled but misspent life.
It was in those days I got into my dad's stash of black gunpowder. The end result being my lack of eyebrows and hair above my forehead, until it grew back.
    HAVE A HAPPY 4'TH, Y'ALL.
