Good Morning, Y'all. I'm also grateful for air conditioning, although if it had never existed, I might not be living down here, so who knows how my life would be going at this point. Happy Sunday. It doesn't feel like a Sunday, but it rarely does on a long weekend. I am only up for a bit. I got up to get some crackers from downstairs, and figured I would pop in since I was awake, and who knows how long I'll sleep once I go back to bed. It's fairly quiet here for the 4th of July weekend, although it was pretty noisy earlier, with lots of fireworks and some possible gun shots. Hope y'all have a good day.
Didn't sleep much last night. It was pretty noisy in the 'hood until late. There's a homeless shelter one block away, and it seemed like every one living there had fireworks. Sounded like a freakin' war going on down there. Ain't doing nothing nor going anywhere today. So, y'all be careful out there. Some of those loud 'BANGS' might be gunshots.
Good morning to everyone this Sunday. I was up late. I didn't get to bed until after 3:am. The young couple I sold the house next door to are having a Fourth of July family reunion week. They are having their first family reunion that brings both sides of their family together. There are three RV's and several tents set up out in the back four acre pasture. It's the first time anyone on either side of their family has had enough space to set such an affair up. The fire works started on Friday night, and I expect it will continue until the end of next week. At least they were not shooting off guns as many others in the area do. So between the all day LOUD Hip Hop music and the night time fireworks, I think my sleeping schedule will be hit and miss for a few more days and nights. At least I get to watch sky light up from my own porch every night while it's going on, but maybe I'll go visit someone next year. But I do worry about fire. I hope all of you are enjoying this special holiday!
Good morning, still hot here but not as bad as it has been, only 100 today. I've never lived any place that guns were shot off on the 4th of July thank goodness. I have no plans for today so it will be just whatever I feel like doing. Got up too early because of Pickles, so my do nothing day will even be longer. Tomorrow will be a month since my mom died and it's been a stressful one so I'm happy to have a relaxing day.
It is going to be hot here today, as well. 95 was the predicted temp high for today, and it is about 90 already. We have been spending time in that swimming pool every afternoon , or at least just about every day. I am SO glad that we found it on sale and bought it ! Supposed to be hot here in northern Alabama all week , with the possibility of thundershowers during the week, and then into the triple digits by next week. We are watering the yard early in the morning, and sometimes again at night when it is this hot. Bobby got some ribs to BBQ, and I am making potato salad and deviled eggs, just in case Robin has time to come over and picnic with us either today or tomorrow. We finally made it to the farmer market and bought some garden-ripened local tomatoes; so we are pretty much set for the weekend foodwise. Kroger's had their $12 chocolate pecan cream pies marked down to $7, and then they put them on half-price close out; so I splurged and got one. We usually stay away from desserts and sweets; but something special every now and then makes us feel like we are not missing out on all of the treats completely, while still working on our food and exercise programs.
All my favorite things @Yvonne Smith , except for the pie. I'll be right over. I only eat ribs when I'm at my daughter's house. Her family doesn't care for them so when I'm there she makes them because when they start groaning that's it's ribs for dinner, they shut up when she say's they're grandmas favorite.
Hi All, and happy 4th of July weekend. I'll be walking a lot hopefully, and we are having a parade I may go to, tomorrow a.m. Then fireworks on the pier I plan to walk down to. It's going to be warmer here today, and a little overcast off and on. Very moderate on the coast where I live. A lot of days are too windy for me, no fun fighting that But lower mph lately Forgot to mention that Tuesday when the staff is back in the office, we are having the bbq Potluck. The manager is supplying the burgers and hotdogs, nice So I will be mingling even though I feel safer in my place, LOL!! But it is fun to join in the gatherings. I'm making something I discovered at Safeway Deli, a grape tomato/artichoke/asparagas salad. I am not sure on what they use for the dressing yet, but I will figure out something on my own hugs all!! denise
Good Morning everyone! Even though it is almost 1pm here. Happy Pre 4th of July, ad I hope you all survived the nights of revelry. One thing to be happy about is that roomie finally put up the smoke detectors he has been promising to do for months! Hallejuah! That is one really good thing. I guess I could do it myself but I have never been known for manual dexterity. I might have to try though still one more that needs to be put up.
I don't like climbing up on stepstools or ladders, not that I ever loved it, but luckily, we have great maintenance people here. They get right on things for us
I have nobody to do it for me so have to change batteries myself and lights...have a light waiting to be changed in the foyer and that's an extra high ceiling and I need the BIG ladder for that one. Haven't felt like doing it though.
I am SO fortunate ........I have Mr. Fixit (@Bobby Cole ) who can reach almost everything, he is so tall, and he is agile on ladders if there is something that he can't reach with those long arms of his. Otherwise, I would be totally living in the dark, you guys...... I totally don't do chairs or ladders. Although, my determintion to swim has helped me to overcome the fear of the swimming pool ladder. A few sessions of EFT tapping, and I am now brave anough to get in and out of the pool, plus Bobby always is right there and holds the ladder steady for me. In case no one noticed, I think that man is a TREASURE ! ! Potato salad is ready anytime you get here, @Chrissy Page , and the ribs are on the BBQ cooking.
You are lucky, Yvonne! It's not that I'm afraid of ladders but with the smoke alarms I also have to tilt my head back And they aren't the easiest things to change a battery. I do have a few light fixtures that aren't simple also, I've let those go. They are in rooms that I have closed off anyway. Let me change into Ms Flash and I'll be there in a flash. That's a superpower that would come in handy.
I got the mower out yesterday morning, filled the tank and was waiting for the dew to dry so I could mow. Then about 11:00 it started raining. It's still raining. If we had enough cucumbers I'd make some more pickles. Oh, well, a day off will be good, maybe I'll bake a cake or something.
Good Morning, Y'all. Sending a hug your way @Chrissy Page. I always have difficulty with anniversaries like that. The sun's coming up, so happy Independence Day. I've been up for several hours, and am not feeling well. I took some medication, including one for nausea, and I'm going to go back down and feed all of the cats, just in case the half an Advil PM I took knocks me out until around lunchtime, which would be okay with me. The cats were somewhat stressed about all of the loud and sudden noises last night, and I'm sure today/tonight won't be any different. I almost caught the finale through my window on my camera, but the shade I was holding back to catch the picture slipped, so I missed it. Oh well. I'm sure there'll be more later . Hope y'all have a nice day!
