I never cooked on anything other than a wood burning stove ,until I moved to South Aust in about 1970
    ( 1 was 25 )
and we had 45+ c ~ 112 F days in summer still lit the fire regardless to how hat it was ( let it go out after cooking meals )

Ours was just like this ….one cast iron

Interesting @Don Alaska some should go back to simple meals …like lots of veggies …. if possible live on what’s grown near where you live.

He mentioned cooking pots and pans ….. I mostly use one saucepan ( steamer ) and one pan I’ve cooked meat in ..or casserole dish/ saucepan depending on what I’m making

I don’t use a cupboard full of dishes to make a meal.

Many in Aust have those domed wood ovens in back yards for cooking Pizza or breads
