http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2016/02/11/replica-titanic-will-now-set-sail-in-2018/ Not me, not even if they gave me and my whole family a free cruise with all the frills!
Wow, that is totally awesome, @Babs Hunt ! YES-YES-YES, I would definitely go one one of the cruises with this cruise ship . I watched the movie several times, and that whole ship was incredible, and to have a replica that is made using modern technology would be the best thing ever. I have read some about the Titanic, and I agree with the people who think that the shipped was "swapped" with her sister ship, the Olympic, which had been damaged the year before, and was no longer safe to continue to use. The loss of life was unplanned; but there was a mixup in contact with the rescue ship (which was standing by but did not receive the alarm signal), and the ship ended up sinking before help could arrive. I am including a short link about this theory, and there are several more extensive videos about it on YouTube if anyone else wants to watch them. I think we even have an old thread about this in the conspiracy section of the forum. The article that you posted says that it could cost upwards of a million dollars to be on this new cruise ship, so it I obviously only going to be for the very wealthy people . However, if it were available to me, I would most certainly love to go on the cruise.
Hehe You literally took the words out of my mouth, @Babs Hunt ... the actual words were something like "It's so safe even God Himself couldn't sink it." Uhhhh huhhhh. So much for that. To answer your question, I wouldn't do it... no way. Of course there'd be enough lifeboats, but that's just one of the things that could go wrong. And it's NOT because of superstition or fear of jinxes or anything... I'd just be hearing that movie music the whole time and probably humming Nearer My God to Thee and freak myself out long before reaching destination.
I'll have to look into those conspiracy theories....I had no idea that maybe the Titantic wasn't the real deal.
I could just see me getting ready to board and someone saying loud enough for me to hear: "Oh, so this is the replica of the ship that was unsinkable but sunk anyway and killed so many people because they skimped on the lifeboats!" I'd have a heart attack right then and there for sure!
We were in the travel expo the other weekend where we bought plane tickets for our 2 trips this year - Bangkok, Thailand and Singapore. There was a booth that was selling a cruise. It's not very cheap since a cruise includes food and accommodation already but the cost was not expensive. It actually seemed affordable to me. Why not try a cruise in Japan this May? But my husband didn't agree. After some days, I was reading the Readers Digest issue of December 2015 about a family that travels a lot and sometimes they take the ship. The story is about the burning ship that almost cost them their lives. It's a good story because the ending was positive, the family had no casualty. But the thought of that burning ship is truly scary.
So no pagans below at $1 million a person I would guess not. I'm not into cruises though my son and wife and Johnny think I would like it. I say if I get freaked out on a casino floating boat there's no telling what I'd be on a cruise ship surrounded by nothing but water - with sharks and more water and more sharks... Nay.
I would go if someone paid my way. I'm surprised people go on cruises now, there seems to be something in the news every couple of weeks about something happening on a cruise ship. Just recently one was caught in a bad winter storm. There are drownings in their pools, viruses, people overboard and on and on.
Yeah, even with new technology something can go wrong. Say, who's the fall guy? I dunno maybe that gull that flew into the ship's sail? Maybe? Duh...
The article says that it would feel cramped after we are use to the spaciousness of today's cruise ships. So I think I'll take my million and go on a bunch of luxury cruises. Babs, I would love to go on a Mississippi cruise. It's on my bucket list.
I saw Lon talking about the Mississippi cruise on SF. He lives a few miles from me, when I was on SF as Selena he asked me out in a PM to a Thai restaurant. I said, NO. Maybe a mistake, lol.
