I've never had any, other than the kind served at hotel/motel New Years Eve parties.

I would like to try a decent grade? not cheap, but not ridiculous in price either.

    Just thought I'd ask.

Wish I could help, Ron. I'm clueless when it comes to most wines.

I don't know anything about wine or champagne, either, but I'm gonna tag this thread so maybe I can learn something. I'm not sure I've ever even tried champagne. I may have had some sparkling wine a long time ago.

I do cook with wine, and generally buy medium-priced ones rather than really understanding what I'm doing.

Was on a cruise years ago and they offered a glass of champaign and some caviar. It was supposed to be good, not expensive. The bubbles were tiny, a sign of good champaine (?) But back then, I liked Andre Cold Duck.

I once knew a bit about champagne, but most of that knowledge has been lost from age. I no longer drink champagne or brandy, but I once enjoyed both. I think most of Korbel champagnes are good, moderately-priced American wines. You should be able toask someone in any good wine shop about it though as there are several sweetnesses to be dealt with as well. If you search, you will find that true champagne only comes from that region of France, but sparkling wines made from the same grape and using the same process taste about the same.
