I had a paper route and there was a Mortuary on the route that intrigued me. herses, limos etc. It got me interested in Egyptology & Embalming. I decided that I waned to own a Mortuary. After military service I went to college on the Korean GI Bill, Served a two year apprentiship, took state exams and got liscensed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer and went to work for a large Funeral Home. Made a good living but not enough to buy my own business. After a thousand funerals and hundreds of embalmings I left the business, went back to school and changed careers .

Pre teen had a job at a mom & pop grocery store stocking shelves, bagging groceries & cleaning the meat cases & butcher block. No thought about the future just had a lot of fun with the neighborhood kids playing the kind of games that were popular in the 50's.

I wonder how many kids today would know what Red Rover, Kick the Can, tag or even leap frog were.

No thoughts about the future and how to earn a living either. Just lived for the day.

Um..pre teen? I don't remember ever hearing that word back then.
Age10 to 13 a doctor or marine biologist.
I was not expected accomplish much since I was female. So wife, mother and house keeper was what I was groomed for-sad really. I gained knowledge thru reading and some really intense living on the edge;)

Maybe a teacher, but I don't know if that was as early as pre-teen. I may not have been thinking about it at all.

Well, since I loved to play cowboy outside, with hat and two six-guns, running and shooting caps at fake bad guys...…….I spent some years in pro-rodeo. No six-guns or bad guys, but had the hat, boots, horse, saddle and rope.

No I did not. I found others fields of interest where I could apply my accounting and bookkeeping skills when I worked as a temp after graduating college.

Hi, @Bess Barber . Welcome to SoC. I like you already! I was going to say, "A rich man's mistress" but I wasn't brave enough. So, I'll go along with your ambition. :D
