I have watched several docos and read several books about this outstanding man & Navigator. I have been fortunate to have visited most all the places his three historic voyages took him.

Captain James Cook FRS (7 November [O.S. 27 October] 1728 – 14 February 1779) was a British explorer, navigator, cartographer, and captain in the British Royal Navy. He made detailed maps of Newfoundland prior to making three voyages to the Pacific Ocean, during which he achieved the first recorded European contact with the eastern coastline of Australia and the Hawaiian Islands, and the first recorded circumnavigation of New Zealand.

He is also mentioned in the movie "Mutiny On The Bounty" as the first explorer to visit the Virgin Islands in his ship HMS Endeavor.

He was killed by natives on one of the Pacific islands.

Yes He was stabbed to death in Hawaii because of a argument over a stolen item.

I read one of his books years ago. Point to anyplace on the globe and there's a good chance he was there.
