The only tradition I remember was every Christmas was a family reunion. Relatives from out of town all came to my grandparents' house and helped cook, clean, watched the kids, eat, drink, play cards, pokeno, argue, laugh, show-off, get my drift.:D

As far as starting a family tradition as a single parent it was very hard with three boys but I loved to decorate for the holidays and baking sweet potatoe pies. Hmmm the aroma of those pies would fill the two bedroom apartment.

Now my sons have their own families and it's me and Johnny. No big celebration but I still keep the spirit of the season alive by decorating for the holidays. We watch Die Hard every year and Johnny bakes enough sweet potatoe pies in case family drops by and we never have any left over.

Well it would seem that the Die Hard movie and sweet potato pies are some of your Traditions @Von Jones. :)

I like the Die Hard Movie if you are talking about the one with Bruce Willis...and you do know there are sequels to that movie, don't you? I had a really hard laugh when I thought of Die Hard being a Christmas movie though!:p

Since my youngest son was very small, on Christmas Eve before bed time,
I would read 'The Night Before Christmas' to him and his brother.
Now they are grown, but they still ask me to read it when we gather on Christmas Eve for their family and friends.

Christmas Crackers is another tradition we do every year.
Nothing better than sitting around the table for Christmas dinner looking at a bunch of adults wearing paper crowns!

We had some different Christmas traditions in my family and I don't have time to post them here now but there was a long thread last year about it and it's all there. I think Ina started that post.
