We have stacks of home video movies of our children and various events in our lives. Since our children were born in the '80s, our first VHS video camera was about as big as an ottoman, but that's another story. So the videos are mostly VHS and the smaller 8MM tape cassettes. Today being "Prime Day" on Amazon, I spied a VidBox video conversion kit for a great price. Reviews are pretty good so I hope I can get our old memories moved to disks, and make copies to bore the children with. Has anyone used one of these conversion kits to move your old tapes to disk?
We copied the VHS recorder (tapes) via plugged into DVD recorder - simple Video output into DVD input
Nope, but if I were to undertake such a thing, I would probably let Legacy Box do it for me, as I have photos, slides, 8mm movies, and old floppy disks with pictures on them. I think the software would be a nightmare. If you only have movies, it might not be so bad.
We had a VHS hooked up to a DVD Player/Recorder and transferred the VHS tapes onto the DVD Player/Recorder. Put a VHS tape in the turn on the VHS Player, put in a tape, turn on the DVD Player/Recorder and put in a DVD. Hit "play" on the VHS and hit "record" on the DVD Player/Recorder. Same thing was done with our small cassette video tapes. Hooked up the hand-held Video Cassette Player/Recorder, turn on and put in the recorded cassette, turn on the DVD Player/Recorder and put in a DVD. Hit "play" on the hand-held Video Cassette Player/Recorder and hit "record" on the DVD Player/Recorder. I put all of our old VHS and Cassette Videos on DVD's that way.
Hmmm. Now y'all have given me some things to consider. We have an old VCR somewhere but I don't think we have a DVD recorder. Thanks, all.
Your computer may be a DVD burner if it has a drive. The tough part is connecting the two and the software to convert analog to digital formats.
Looks like there are quite a few YouTube videos on how to do this, plus probably a review on whatever product they purchased. It's really expensive to get it done at Wal-Mart. I had no idea it would cost so much. Better to buy the equipment and do it yourself.
Yes, we have several computers that will burn a disk. It would be easier to eliminate the "computer" from the equation if I can work it as Cody suggested, directly from the tape to the DVD.
Yeah, it's expensive to have it done so I'd like to find a more cost-effective solution because we have HOURS of videos. (So hopefully I can figure out how to edit them, too!! )
My wife had 8mm family movies professionally recorded to VHS tapes many years ago. About 10 years ago (after digital TV and DVD player/recorders) I recorded the tapes on DVD's. Play the tape on your digital TV ( S cable or AV cable input) Connect AV output from the TV to your Digital player/recorder input. Record what is being played on the TV. Then burn additional DVD's on your computer
