One country singer that I never even suspected that I liked is Hank Williams, Jr. Most all of his biggest hits have been the rowdy bar songs, and I was totally unimpressed with those. One day, I was listening to the radio, and I heard the most beautiful song, and the singer had a deep, resonant voice , and one that I had never even heard before. Naturally, I listened to see who this awesome singer cloud be, and to my amazement, it turned out to be Hank Williams, Jr ! After that, I discovered that he has several of the "love song" type of songs, and the ones that I have heard, I really like all of them, so far. This one is probably my favorite , although there are several that I am very partial to. If you have never heard Hank sing anything besides the rowdy bar songs, you may be surprised at how well he can sing, too.
Not too long after Glen was diagnosed with Alzheimers, he released his very last album...which included this song...it was really hard work for him, but IMO he left us with the best song of his career.....
This is my most favourite Wilburn brothers song...sadly they'd both already died before I even discovered them on youtube...but I found everything they ever did and loved it...I even have this song downloaded as the ring tone on my phone..it's so funny because most people here have never heard this song, and when my phone rings in the supermarket people have known to dance a little in the aisles with a big smile on their face..
One more for today... it brought my morning tears... if you haven't seen it, it's worth your time... Oh my... everything a country song needs to be. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I always did. It really *is* emotional, though, so... enter at your own risk. Sometimes I can deal with it... sometimes not.
