If I ever decided to really, really get interested in living in a remote area, I am definitely going to have to take a few lessons from this guy!

Maybe the video and thread could go somewhere else but because my brain went step by step with him, I might just give some of his do it yourself work a try. Never know.

I guess it wouldn't work in Florida due to too much rain, but what a fantastic idea!!! I would absolutely live in that. I love unique home ideas.

I can quickly see the downside to a rainy climate. Is he working in shale or dry clay? The upside, is he is saving tons of money on work clothes and building materials. The camera man doesn't seem to be much help to him. When finished, we will view "Hang, in there"!

    Amazing!

He could build a tiny house in an hour.

I'm gonna start digging like that. :)

I enjoy all the YouTube videos showing a variety of materials a person can build a house out of. They include bottles, beer cans, cob, aircrete. I'm not sure what they are doing for water and electricity, but they look like very fun structures if you had some land space to play with.

It never fails to amaze me at how creative so many people are with what we otherwise would term, "junk." There should be someone with the smarts enough to form a corporation which would be international, to utilize the many talents of all these folks. Recycling would take a tremendous fall, needless to say. Actually, I doubt start up money would be a problem since the materials utilized required little or no capital. If I had the know how, I'd somehow do this through the internet and be the middle man to sell the items, and away we'd go. :)

I agree. Isn't it amazing how after you get to a certain age you can see clearly on how to fix a great many world problems?? For whatever reason, this wisdom seems to escape us when we are young enough to actually be able to implement them.

Your idea: Whole house made out of bottles with a solar system.

There is a book, "Where Are You Bernadette?" that I read recently. Bernadette is an architect who is extremely talented and builds houses with natural materials found only within 20 miles of her project. She is a marvel and talented beyond all expectations, wins awards, and big money for her efforts. The story is a good one in my opinion, but what I was impressed with was her ability to create out of practically nothing. It is a novel of course, but the picture you posted, Bess, is very real and illustrates exactly what my thoughts are on this subject.

Sorry, but the name of the book
is: "Where'd You Go Bernadette?" It was also a movie and unfortunately miscast.
