I have noticed that we have a lot of threads with posts that are not much more than just a link to a youtube video and no real description of what the video is going to tell you when you watch it. Everyone posts videos from time to time, but I do not watch very many of them, unless I know it is something I want to spend time listening to. Ken is the very best at this, after reading his post about a video, I always know if it is something I want to watch or not. For this reason, what I usually do is listen to a video about something I am interested in, and then decide whether other people here might be interested as well. Next , I write a post explaining what the video is about and what I personally got from the video, and that if someone is interested in learning more, I have attached the video. That way, someone can read my post, and if they have no interest in learning more, they already know they do not want to watch the video, and if they are interested, they have a good idea of the content and can have it explained better than I did in my post, and if it is a long video, I will advise that, too. (Get coffee for this one, Guys) So, if I come across a video with some kind of “bait” title, and no information about the video content, I assume the person who posted it was not impressed enough to even write about the video, and I generally ignore it. If it is a link to a website with no information in the post, I don’t open that either. After reading Shirley Martin ’s exclamation that she was never going to be able to unsee some link that was posted, I was sure it was a good thing that I didn’t click on the link.
Yes, I do watch most videos in post, it beats reading when things start coming together after a while. I can only read up to the point I'm cross eyed or my sunglasses get fogged up from the glare of the page. Guess what, 'I Wear My Sunglasses At Night.'.
No; I usually don't watch them though I do post videos occasionally. I try to keep them to a minimum except in the music threads, which we have far too many of now. There are too many goofballs on Youtube, masquerading as a "news source" or whatever. Anyone with a camera can be a star. Also, the length of the video is a factor; if it's more than 5 minutes I usually click away. I prefer actual conversation.
That is my preference as well, @Beth Gallagher ! I am here for the conversations we have together, our happy days and our unhappy days, but shared with each other. I think it is great when we come across information that we think might be beneficial to other members here, to write about that and share videos when we have one; but if I just wanted to watch videos or listen to music, I can do that all on my own without finding it on the forum. If you buy a new gadget, I am wanting to hear how you liked the gadget and not how some guy on youtube did an “unboxing video” of the gadget.
Ok ladies so you are plagued with the video syndrome, my suggestion is, 'just don't click on them and they won't hurt you'. Meantime I have a song for yall,Don't worry this one will be in Music forum.
See how easy that is, just pretend their not there and I'll try to stop putting them up. it won't be easy for either of us I know but we have to do something about this. Beth, I'm resisting one now.
I generally watch videos that are short and ones that I think are pertinent to the subject of the thread. I don't generally watch long videos posted here or on YouTube unless there is some history or something that cannot be told in a shorter format.
New to the forum, so can't comment on videos posted here. As a rule I won't click on any video or any link. I prefer the posters own thinking, ideas, or handiwork. so if the video or link is one the poster made or wrote, then I will.

There is an introduction area under the notices and announcements section of the forum, if you would like to share a little bit more about yourself there. The forum software is being glitchy, and so uploading photos, even avatar photos, sometimes works and sometimes not, so if you can’tt upload an avatar, that is why.
I decided to make my intro by making various post rather than a one post intro. You will get to know me the same as I will you. So far based on reading past post, I have a lot in common with most here. What I am saying is, rather than hand you my resume, you will get to know me over many post. Besides my resume isn't all that interesting or noteworthy. Begay is a common Dine (Navajo) name. I am originally from the Southwest and lived near the Dine Nation for many years.
