My Grand daughter's husband built a huge aquariam in their new home . They are wanting fish etc. as Xmas presents. If that thing ever breaks the house will get washed away. The Fireplace is a TV Screen
WOW.....that is really huge!! To keep a nice one, they can take quite a bit of work and knowledge. This is beautiful! I also really like the fireplace screen on the television. I would like to get one of those.
We had a 10 gallon one for a two Betas (separate times) we had, but there was just too much upkeep. After both Betas died, we sold the aquarium and everything we had with it. I think our water was just too hard to keep fish.
The aquarium is wonderful, always wanted one - I love fish, could watch them for hours If you think all they do is swim around all day, think again, they are wondrous creatures I hope your Granddaughter will get them playthings to keep them occupied, they can 'shoot hoops' may even get a 'slam dunk'
No I've never had one, but my grandmother always kept goldfish. Some live for years. They were so peaceful, and sweet looking, so when I was a kid we got an aquarium. For some reason we chose guppies. Big mistake. They were aggressive and fast. They jumped out of the tank on occasion when you were trying to catch them to clean it. The females ate their young. You had to separate them. As a kid I thought they were mean nasty fish. It taught me a lesson. Maybe the wrong lesson. Should have tried goldfish.
Over the years we've had several, the largest, a thirty gallon. It takes some work to keep any aquarium clean. But that thirty gallon was difficult to keep, hard to clean, it was a pain in the left shoulder. It was a good looking thing, and we had some attractive fish. A conversation piece. I finally sold it but I was ready to give it away to someone who would haul it off.
My younger sister asked for a goldfish and got it. Next she asked for a fish tank and got it with guppies. It was fun as we moderated their movements. She didn't like cleaning the tank, I admit it was rank but it had to get done. I saw a salt water tank in the office of a funeral home owned by my friend's father. It had the most beautiful angelfish and silver dollars along with an exotic landscape. I personally wouldn't set up a fish bowl or tank.
We had a small one while our nephew was living with us. I think it's up on the attic now, but I don't know why. It's not like we're going to decide to raise fish at some point in the future. Truth be told, if we didn't have to haul our own trash to the transfer site, most of what's in the attic would have been dumped rather than stored.
OMG..no offence but I can't choose which looks more tacky, the horrible fake Fireplace, or the super huge fish tank in someone's house..
