    Wow. Another disaster for Japan.

TOKYO — Japan issued a tsunami warning after a series of strong earthquakes struck the Sea of Japan on New Year's Day.

Quakes occurred off the coast of Ishika and nearby prefectures after 4 p.m. local time (2 a.m. ET) with one reaching a magnitude of 7.6, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

The agency issued tsunami warnings to the coastal prefectures of Niigata, Toyama and Ishikawa where 33,000 buildings had lost power as of 6 p.m. (4 a.m. ET), according to electricity company Hokuriku Electric Power.

It is awful, and i was watching some of the videos on Twitter, showing the whole buildings shake. That is definitely not a good start into 2024, especially for the people in Japan.
It said there were around 19 aftershocks, plus now the tsunami warning.
I wonder if the earth movement that caused this earthquake also has something to do with the tidal waves in Southern California the last few days ?

They have downgraded the tsunami alert but are still advising people who evacuated the coast to not return to their homes. Seems like these things happen around the holidays; I was just thinking of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake/tsunami on the day after Christmas. That was broadcast all around the world and we were glued to the TV in horror.

We were on an "increased risk of earthquake" of earthquake over 7.0 alert over the New Years weekend due to the presence of a large coronal hole on the Sun facing Earth. I don't think they know why this happens, but it has been observed that severe earthquakes are more common when a coronal hole on the sun faces Earth. I used to have many friends in Japan, and I know what it is like to go through earthquakes, so I feel for those poor people.

Another earthquake in Japan today, this one a 6.4 magnitude. Apparently, we are also experiencing some sunspots, or solar flares, something like that. H also said that New Jersey is still having after-shocks, so that is not over yet, either.
This channel is very much into weather phenomenon, and I am now following the channel on bo youtube and Twitter.

I have never heard of solar flares causing earthquakes, but coronal holes definitely are linked to large quakes. I usually keep on top of these things, but I missed this one--too busy planting stuff. Thanks @Yvonne Smith. Since I mentioned my "conspiracy" that God's action caused the big storm in the Persian Gulf region, maybe further action--a Carrington-type event to shut down electronics Earth wide would put a stop to all these stupid wars, as nobody could use the GPS system or computers to aim, direct, or fire the weapons. It would go back to WWI and WWII type battles with artillery and rifles. That would be the up side of a grid-down event.
