During my high school years, there weren't very many female vocalists who were popular. Most rock bands were made up of men. A few exceptions that I can think of were Grace Slick, Janis Joplin, and Cass Elliot. Although she came along after I graduated from high school, I have always liked Joan Jett too. I'm sure there are others that I'll think of in time, but these come to mind. Country had some capable female vocalists but I wasn't much into Country. The same is true of Motown.
No, there wern't as many popular female singers. Speaking of country, I'm sick and tired of it regardless of who sings it. I'm also off of old Willy. I need some new music. I'm trying to dig a little jazz. Yeah, Carole and Carley are pretty good. Way back there I liked Janis.
I greatly enjoyed Karen Carpenter. "Close to You" I was humming and singing just this morning. Remember every word! Frank
@Bess Barber, I didn't know israel had any singers; thought they were all soldiers. Must say she does remind of Daniel Silva and his "Other Woman."
@Holly Saunders, Don't know how I missed your post of Caro. I like her; my kind of music. Here she is at a jazz festival.
@Holly Saunders, I had never heard of her. I'm going to have to get out and get around the block more often. I have bookmarked her page. Will check out more of her music.
