..and Missouri One person shot in Missouri outside a mall, ... ... and a massive battle within a store between customers and security guards in a Birmingham Alabama store... (videos) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5110121/Retailers-look-woo-shoppers-rivals-Amazon-grows.html Good lord what's the matter with people?.. and I'd like to place a bet that many of those involved in those fracas, are getting themselves into debt for those goods that they're also about to get themselves a criminal record for assault ..too
Another very important reason not to participate in those Black Friday sales except online. I have noticed lately that everytime I watch the local News over here it seems there has been another murder here in our City...almost on a daily or nightly basis. It is true that most of these murders are taking place in the "drug" sections of town...but still it makes me very uncomfortable that this is happening so often lately. Going shopping can be a very dangerous thing to do now days. But Black Friday is a day you can almost expect craziness out there and it isn't worth what it might cost you.
I didn’t do it, @Holly Saunders ! Thankfully, we do not even live near Birmingham; but I am sure that the shops up here are full of people looking for good deals, too. Bobby wants to go to Harbor Freight Tools today, and he thinks it might be better to go now than this weekend, because some people are working today. We are going to go to the fitness center, and then try going to harbor freight after that, hopefully, the streets will not be too packed, we have to go right down one of the busiest roads to get from one place to the other. Other than what Bobby gets at Harbor Freight, we are not going to be spending any money and buying anything else. I am even staying away from the grocery store this weekend !
LOL @Yvonne Smith I can't see you brawling on the floor of a store with someone over a tool for Bobby... and hopefully wherever you're shopping later will be quietened down and not too many angry people around...nuts isn't it?
It is totally insane. What can those people be thinking? Am I being racist if I point out that the ones in the video were black?
Dunno. The majority of the population is shared by both black and white, so if a problem ensued and bets were place it would either be blacks on blacks, whites on whites or a mixture of both. But, I do suppose that the proper answer would be that GREED and STUPIDITY comes in all colors.
I shopped yesterday and although it was busy everyone was polite. Of course us Canadians are known world over for our polite ways
Speaking strictly for myself, the very word "shopping" sends chills up my spine. As it was, I knew exactly what I needed and got just that without any real hassle. As Yvonne can attest to, I DO NOT shop mainly because there are already too many shoppers in the world who must have some sort of Sadomasochistic tendency which drives them insane when they see a sale. I do believe that stores could mark their products UP by 10%, put a sale tag on it and people would fight to get to it. The very phrase of "black Friday" should be quite enough of a warning that all is definitely not well about going out with wallet in one hand and without a stun gun in the other on that day is insanity at it's finest. Surely the morticians and coroners are overjoyed that such a day is denoted by the use of their favorite deathly color!
Yes, I do recall being told (by a Canadian cousin) when I was young that if I was not polite, I would get sent to Moosejaw.
We went to two stores on Thursday evening (Thanksgiving), Best Buy and Kohl's. Line to the registers at Best Buy was basically short, with no problems. There was a Florida State Trooper standing just inside the front doors. Kohl's had many more people, but most of them were standing in two different LONG lines to get to the registers. It took us approx. an hour to get to the register, but that's just the way it is. Again, no problems inside the store. Yesterday, Black Friday, we went to eight stores, including a trip back to Kohl's. Compared to the night before, Kohl's was pretty empty with only a few people waiting in line for the registers. Stopped by Walmart and basically the store was empty! No line at all getting to a register. Our last store was Target, at around 1PM, and we could really see that people had slept in, woke up and were heading to stores. IOW, the traffic was getting worse and worse. After all was "said and done", we got a great price on a new vacuum, some new dvd movies and a few other things. It was a good Black Friday, but we were headed home by the time all of the shoppers were out that had slept in.
This is the way it is in this city.........Jacksonville. Certain areas here are just "crime infested". Gangs, drugs and shootings.
To be honest I had noticed that....but whether it's because more of the Black population are more in need of items which are reduced in price...and therefore more likely to be at the sales and more desperate I don't know...or maybe they've just got hotter tempers.. who knows.. perhaps we'll get to see pictures of whites battling it out as well..
Well, one thing for sure, there are areas in the U.S. where the population is approx. half white and half black, areas that are much more black than white, areas that are all black and areas that the black population is less than 1%. The areas that have less than 1% black generally have a larger Hispanic population. It really seems that most crime is done by Whites, Blacks and Hispanics. Very little, to none, done by Asians and people from India.
We are in a time here when the races seem to be being turned against the other, mostly by the (controlled ) media. I am sure that they could just as easily posted the same kind of a scene that was being done by white people, and I am pretty sure that I have also seen pictures of that in the past. Right now, anything that can make black people look bad to white people, or white people (especially police officers) look bad to black people, this is what makes the news. and it is not just a black/white thing, they also show the worst side of Hispanic or Muslim people as well, and of course, of Christians are often portrayed as being racist and bigoted. Also, for most of the low-income people , checks come on the first or the third, and this is the part of the month when poor people can barely buy food, and should not be fighting over high-priced items, on sale or not.
