    Bend the definition a bit, beyond lending practices to include meaning "unusual or low-life use".

    Post an opinion or thought which you know is false or doubtful, as though you know all about the subject, then revel in the responses after others have researched the subject matter, thereby proving their greater knowledge than your own. This results in two-fold benefits: Responders feel perked-up and notable, while you yourself have been spared the effort of researching the material yourself!

    I think it's a great idea. :D

    The first writing instrument was a feather dipped in ink. ;)

    @Joe Riley

    Whaaat?? I don't get it. Convincing others to do work for you where they are happy to do it, does not benefit both?

    Well since you asked Shirley, the first writing instrument was a lazer beam type of pen used by the cave men and sent as a gift from the aliens.

    of course they did not know what to do with it so playing around and pointing it at each other the cave men found it to be an useless weapon as it only stung a little so that is when they invented using a sharp stone to write on rocks....petroglyphs still exist today.

    and that is the truth

    Actually, @Shirley Martin I think it was a piece of flint stone, scratching a message out on sound rock.

    The first writing instrument was a stick charred by fire, the char was the "ink"....a plain stick was used to write and draw in the dirt and sand, etc. :)

    now it was an easy matter to wipe the words out of the dirt with a kick of the feet but they were stumped on how to erase words from the stone, until someone invented what they called soot-erase and patented it :D
