Some rather unusual Christmas cards that may not work for us today Murderous frogs, children boiled in teapots and a mouse riding a lobster are generally not images seen today on Christmas cards. But in Victorian times it was all par for the course. BBC News takes a look at some of the more unusual cards of Christmas past.
Oh yes I've seen these before...there's a huge market for them Terry.....they're absolutely fascinating..I love anything antique ephemera I was given a complete work of Cigarette and tea cards the other day...all in a leather bound album ( about 400) of them, all dating back to 1935, and in Mint condition. Of no earthly use at all except for the beauty of them , but a fascinating insight into the days when my mother was being born!
I wonder about the thought process in depicting dead frogs, birds, etc. as inspiration for happiness at Christmastime. Fascinating!
