Yes folks, when Train travel was King, when everyone Smoked Cigarettes and enjoyed it...when folks had Nice, Warm Conversations...yes folks...the 1950's, during the 2 terms of President Eisenhower! Here's a song I liked from that era: "P.S. I Love You" (When folks still wrote letters.} "Dear, I thought I'd drop a line, the weather's cool, the Folks are fine, I'm in bed each night at nine, P.S. I love you! Yesterday we had some rain, but all in all, I can't complain, Was it dusty on the Train? P.S. I love you! Write to the Browns just as soon as you're able, They came around to call. I burned a hole in the dining room table, And let me see...I guess that's all! Nothing more for me to say, and so I'll close, but by the way... Everybody's thinking of you, P.S. I love you!" Hal
Thanks, Ladies! Billie Holiday was known among the Jazzmen she recorded with as "Lady Day". She was arrested on her Deathbed for narcotics violations. Bobby Vinton's song "Melody Of Love" is the only pop hit song sung partially in Polish, which is Vinton's racial heritage. Hal
I have very hazy memories of the 50's.. but from what I barely remember and what I've learned I think I would choose the 50's too... maybe with a few little tweaks here and there..
The 50s were better in America, still a bit drab over here but then came the 'swinging 60s' and colour galore - filling our hearts with optimism - FAB !
