I think that it is stupid to automatically classify current songs as "bad". That's why I thought we should make this thread dedicated to songs we enjoy from the past 10 years!

Here is one I really enjoy:

What are your favorite songs from the past 10 years?

I am trying to think of some; and will continue to consider it because I believe that there are actually some that i do like. However, I mostly prefer the older style of songs, although not necessarily the ones that I listened to back when i was growing up.
However, here is an interesting version of a modern song. I had never even heard this song before, and my grandson posted it on his Facebook page.
It is a song called Bohemian Rhapsody, and was by some group called Queen, which I have vaguely heard of (I think). Anyway, someone took the music and adapted it for one of those beautiful old pipe organs that play the music reels.
I LOVE that organ music, and so I was immediately impressed with this song. When I explained to my grandson that I had never heard of it before , he (Laughing, I am sure) posted the original by Queen so I could hear what it originally sounded like.
If you enjoy the sound of these old pipe organs; you will like this version, too !

You haven't heard of Queen?

They were the kings of rock! Have you never heard about "I want to break free"? They were on the top of the world!

While I remain a dedicated classic rock fan (with a quirky side interest in classical music and the odd country song) I have enjoyed several of the more recent offerings: Finger Eleven, Default, Evanescence, Smash Mouth, Chloe Bennet, Miranda Lambert, Sara Bareilles ... and so on.

Wow, great choices! It's really nice to see what other people your age listen to nowadays! I'm also a huge classic rock/metal fan, but I seem to enjoy the random pop songs that play on the radio nowadays.

I don't care for most of them. There's that one out whose lyrics are "I really really really really really really really like you". That song sums up the quality of most music. I don't expect Dylan or the Dead, but come on...
So when I do hear a modern song that's had some thought put into it, it sticks with me. Kind of like if I saw a two headed kitten.

This song was made 5 years ago, but still I think that it's great, very touching.
