The thing that I have been studying about this month is called EFT, or just "tapping". While it is kind of a novel idea when you first read about it, there are a lot of great testimonials to how well it works......... Even when you don't believe it will work. Faith is not required for EFT to work. Most of us have heard of the ancient healing methods of acupuncture, and know that a knowledgeable acupuncturist can do wonders towards healing many different ailments. Acupuncture works by stimulating what are called "meridians" in different areas of the body, depending on what result it is being applied for. Tapping works on the same principle of stimulating the meridians; but there is no use of needles or any other instrument except for your own fingertips. I have been reading about this, and watching some of the youtube videos to learn how it works and be able to start using it on myself. I think that I need to learn more; but just the amount that I have been using it; I am able to walk better with the bad knee, and I intend to use it for other issues as well once I get a little more proficient. It is actually very simple to learn to do, there are several areas on your face and chest that you tap on, as well as the wrist and top of your head; so understanding the mechanics of tapping is easy. What I am still learning is how to apply it better in more problem areas of my life/body. Here is a short introductory video that explains basically how EFT works.
So, an amazing "coincidence" to report this morning ! I have been using the tapping to help my knee pain, and it is working. Also, the other day, I stopped a serious panic attack in just moments, using EFT. I will relate that story now, as well. Anyway, I had been thinking that perhaps this EFT could be of help to my dear friend, @Ina I. Wonder . Last night, i messaged her to see how she was doing, and if there were any new medical reports from the doctors and the heart tests she has been having. I also was intending to mention the tapping idea to her. To my astonishment, one of the first things that she said to me was to ask me if i had ever heard of "meridian tapping" ! ! It seems, her doctor thinks that it would help her too, and could even delay her needing an operation, and had suggested that she try tapping. So, I explained the basic concept, directed her to the short tutorial video I had posted here on this thread, and then recommended a webpage (www.fastereft.com) that offers a free 7-day course in learning how to tap sucessfully. I have been watching videos by different practitioners, and just found this particular website last night and signed up for the free course, which provides basic information and educational videos. Now, here is my story of the panic attack. We had decided to take the pickup out on a test run, and drive it to the fitness center the other day. Bobby has been driving it back and forth to the house he was working on, and it seemed to be doing fine, except for a mysterious clatter it does when we start it up. So, on the trip to the fitness center, it was running fine; but then about halfway there, we noticed that the temperature gauge was going up way too far, and was badly overheating. That was when I started panicking. It was actually shorter to continue on to the fitness center than it was to turn around and go back home at that point; but before we even got there, the gauge was pegged out on overheating, and I was sure the truck engine was ruined. Bobby was doing his best to reassure me, but I was still highly agitated and fearing the worst. I could barely breathe, and my heart was pounding. Since there was nothing we could do to check the coolent levels until the truck cooled down, we went on into the gym to work out; but i was still so upset that i could not even swim. So, there I was , in the far corner of the swimming pool, tapping my head and chest and saying how scared I was about the truck overheating, following the directions as best as I remembered seeing them do in the videos. Incredibly, the fear and panic just subsided (just like the videos said it would), and I felt calm and assured that we would be fine, regardless of what the issue turned out to be with the truck. I was actually able to swim and do my water exercises and not even worry about the overheating problem at all, and felt relaxed inside as I swam. It turned out that the water reservoir was low, and once we added more coolant and water to the radiator, the truck was fine and drove back home at the normal temperature. It has not overheated since then, or shown any signs of water leaking; so apparently, we just didn't get it properly filled up after replacing the bad water pump.
Good morning @Yvonne Smith , I watched this video and a few more, and they all showed the simplicity of the treatment. Now I want to see if I can find literature on 'how' it work. It was weird that I had not seen this thread, but then yesterday, my doctor ask me if I had ever heard of Medirdian Tapping. (Also called EFT which stands for Emotional Freedom Technique) My doctor told me that I was going to have to have my aorta valve repaired with surgery. But he thinks if I can learn how use Meridian Tapping, I can put the surgery off for anywhere from one to four years. I'm ready to try almost anything that will delay the surgery. He said if I can get controll of my anxiety and panic attacks, I should have more time before for the surgery is a must. I called Yvonne, (the person I go to for advice, especially with health matters), last night and told her what the cardiologist said, and about my regular doctor's suggesting of the application of Medridian Tapping therapy. That's when Yvonne told me about this thread. Coincidences happen at the weirdest times, but this one gave me a person that is researching the very issue I need learn. Of course that is Yvonne. I sure am glad she likes me. She's the big sister I never had. So have any of you heard or tried Merodian Tapping, and If so, what for issues? Did you find it helpful?
Thanks Yvonne, the skeptic is willing to try anything now. I'm in physical and emotional pain. I'm sure I'll have to do it a few times because of my negativity towards anything different.
Thankfully, this does not rely on whether or not you think it will work. It works on how your body is processing things, just like acupuncture does. It is just a simple way of doing the same kind of thing, and anyone can do it easily. When you have several issues all going on at once, then you will probably need to be tapping on each of them as they start to bother you. You should feel a little better and calmer each time you tap for something. Here is an easy tutorial put out by Dr. Mercola that can help anyone get started with meridian tapping. (This is the one I already sent you, @Chrissy Page ).
Yes, I did that one a few times and believe it or not I feel better! The knot in my stomach is gone although it just hurts a little bit now, it was on fire earlier. I was able to eat a little bit also. Now I'm unpacking from my trip. It's very relaxing for some reason and It helped me let go of some negativity. I didn't think it would work but was in bad enough shape to try anything and I'm glad I did.
My wife and I raised a nephew who had reactive attachment disorder, and one of his therapists used EFT. It seemed to be helpful. Of course, when you do it to yourself, it sort of makes you look like you're autistic or something.
Only my dog sees me. So, it's been around for awhile, Ken? I haven't heard of it but then I'm not the natural type person but I'm opening myself up to new things. I ACTUALLY do feel better right now. I will have to see if it was just coincidence or it really worked.
Chrissy, I've done it for years and it's great. I get off track and let it go for months on end and can really tell the difference. Google Brad Yates and pull up some of his Youtuve stuff. He is so cute I just sit there and do it along with him. I'd put grief in the search after his name or once you get to Youtube and do one on grief. I think it'll make you feel better. And tell Pickles to go in the other room and stop starring.
Thanks Linda, I will. It really is amazing how much better I feel. As for Pickles, he never leaves my side but he doesn't mind how goofy I look as long as I'm there to feed him.
I hope it helps you too, Ina...at least to hold off on the heart surgery. I'm going to check out the guy Linda mentioned also. I'd rather look at a cute guy than a woman but I'm just really impressed with how well it worked. I need to read up on this though because until today I haven't heard of it. I did have one whole year of panic attacks in 1996 and it would have been helpful then. I still get anxious about things though and will try using this technique. It worked a miracle on my stomach...I was thinking bleeding ulcer or something horrible.
I have just kind of let this go by the wayside; but it was really helping me when I was doing it; so this week, I am going to start back with meridian tapping again. It was helping my heart before, and I think that it was helping with other things, too, so I am going to give myself a “refresher course” and see if it helps me with the dieting and with my heart again. Since my heart is getting better, I want to give it all the help that I can to recover from the a-fib and stay in normal rhythm.
Something of that nature is used in treating reactive attachment disorders and other some other disorders in the autism spectrum.
You would just tap on the same points, and specify about the cold, Patsy. Scroll up to post number 4, and watch the video and it explains where to tap and how to ask for what you need help with . You should notice a difference right away, and then then you will probably have to repeat it before the cold goes away completely ; but maybe not.
