...or a once-popular 19th-century French play, who knows for sure? But in real life, I am a very recently retired state employee, married, two stepsons and two twin grandchildren who turned 3 last weekend. I searched for a senior-centric discussion forum and landed here. I'm having what appears to be a fairly typical difficult time adjusting to retirement, probably because really didn't plan to retire. I wasn't fired or forced out, but I'd gotten bored with my work and had been there for longer than at any other job, so I looked to land elsewhere. However, I also encountered the very typical ageism and although I was very qualified for any number of the jobs out there, I didn't get so much as a nibble. So I decided to retire and do contract legal work for other lawyers, which is slow in materializing, so I need to keep a positive attitude, something I've always had trouble doing. Meanwhile, I do a fair amount of free legal work for people who can't afford lawyers, which not only keeps my brain engaged, but reminds me that a lot of people have it worse than I do. I'm very much an introvert, and quite protective of my identity-- hence the nom de web. Maybe I'll add something else later. Meanwhile, I have an idea for a new thread.
Welcome to the forum, and definitely an impressive forum name, @Cyrano de Bergerac ! What you you prefer to be called ? Looking forward to reading the new thread when you get it posted, also. I am one of the greeters here, so if you have any questions about how the forum works, feel free to message me, or you can just start a post in the Help section of the forum.
Welcome to the forum! Missouri is one of my favorite states, my son lives right across the river from it. St. Louis is what I mean.
@Cyrano de Bergerac Welcome! If you desire anonymity, I understand that. I like mine more than most, and have reluctantly released bits and pieces of it, including (gulp) a picture of me, several actually, but so old (so young, then.....) as to prevent recognization today! Anyhow, if it's too intrusive, disregard my question: If you really are located in MO, do you know of a little town called Bunker? Frank
