What does her color or sexual preferences have to do with the price of rice in China? Being black or lesbian does not affect your reasoning or managerial skill. Do you have evidence to contradict that. I am assuming that she was selected in an open fair election run for and by the people of Chicago. What is the problem?
That's what I was wondering. It doesn't seem to me that anyone here has said that they have a problem with it. God knows that no one could make Chicago any worse than it already is.
Howdy & best wishes Why anyone would want the job of mayor of Chicago is a mystery to me. Highest property taxes, one of the highest murder rates in America, 60+ billion in debt, drug use right up there as a problem. Other than that The chance to make a difference does have it's allure.
I wish her well; she's certainly got a full plate with that mess of a city. And I'll be watching to see her input on the whole Jussie Smollett fiasco.
She is indeed a democrat but her achievements throughout her educational and adult career are pretty remarkable so her political affiliation might not have any bearing as to how and what she’s going to do to improve the status of Chicago. Judging from her past performance as a lawyer and her years since 2002 of working directly with the CPD, she might have a good grasp of what is really needed in such a large and crime filled city and thus far it doesn’t sound like she’s anyone’s puppet. Only time will tell. On a lighter note: Apparently she was the class president at some point in her high school career and helped establish a boycott of the school lunch program. Something about inferior pizza that was being served. Yeah, I know it sounds a bit like something Michele Obama might do but still, it does show that she didn’t mind being in the forefront of controversy which has been pretty much proven out in her work with the CPD.

Gotta be better than the Baltimore mayor who told the police to stand down during the riots 3 or 4 years ago. In essence, she told BLM and other folks to go ahead and rob, pillage and burn the city to the ground if that’s what they wanted to do. I do hope the new mayor of Chicago can help bring a little sense to those who would do any further harm to their city. To me, strict and straightforward would be appropriate but then, I am not the mayor.
