Earlier this year, we had to buy a new digital camera due to problems with our old one that was bought in 2005. So, we bought a new Canon. Of course we also had to buy a new lens protector and media card. THEN, we found out that our old computer didn't want to handle the new camera software or media card. So, had to buy a new computer, monitor, speakers and computer table. Our old computer table was made out of particle board and darn near falling apart. Good thing is.......we got the camera, computer and computer table on sale.

Well, now our 46" LCD Samsung TV, bought in 2009 in on the blink. It was from Circuit City when those stores were still open. It was on sale. Then, we had to buy a new tv stand/table. Well, since our power went out for 40 hours, due to Irma, our tv hasn't been turning on right. The problem appears to be in the main PCB in the tv. Of course the Warranty has run out and we know that the cost of fixing it could be more than a new tv cost. Then, along with getting a new 49" 4K TV later, perhaps sooner rather than later, also have to buy a new quality surge protector. Our surge protector was bought in 2009 and we are told we are lucky it's still good.

So, new camera wouldn't function with old computer and sure don't want to end up buying a new tv and plug into an old surge protector. Plus, with a new tv, will have to spend approx. $200 for a 5 year Extended Warranty AND a $80 Converter Box so we can play our Wii Game. We love Samsung, but the new TV's don't have a hookup for our Wii Game.

"New With New" can sure empty the old wallet.

That's the trouble these days especially with technology, hardly anything is built to last... and to replace it every few years costs a fortune...

Well, we were told that we are pretty lucky that both the tv and the surge protector has lasted this long......almost 10 years. We do watch a lot of tv.

Our tv works, but doesn’t turn on the way it should. Hopefully, it will last us until around Black Friday or later. We definitely weren’t expecting to buy a new tv, but once this one just won’t come on, it will be “new one” time. There’s absolutely no way my wife can go without tv. She didn’t like it at all when our power went off for 40 hours and had no tv.

This is the part about new technology that definitely hits the pocketbook. Someone else in the forum was asking how to get some new electronic thing to work using something old. I think it was a software thing. Well, when we got this new computer, we did have a couple of software items that Windows 10 wouldn't take.

Our current Sound Bar was bought a few years ago. It is not Blue-Tooth, like the ones today. Our old Blu-Ray DVD Player bit the dust, so we got a new one. The new DVD Player is Blue-Tooth, but can only take a Blue-Tooth Sound Bar. We don't leave our Sound Bar on all the time, like some people do, so we have to plug it into the tv every time we watch a DVD movie or concert. So...........along with getting a new tv, Surge Protector and a $100 4K cable, we will also end up needing a new Sound Bar.

Heck, we just spent darn near $1,500 on engine repairs for our Dodge Durango. Boat, vehicle and electronic replacements...........no wonder we can only take a short/local vacation during the year. But, guess that's got to be ok, because we like our boat, Durango and electronics.

Guess this topic/thread is not much to talk about. Oh well.
