Last week the local gas here was $2.39. I'd heard it may be lower, but I wasn't expecting such a big drop... it was $2.19 this morning. How low's it supposed to go? Anyone know? How are the prices in your part of the country/world?
I'm always surprised at the vast differences in prices across the country. I'm not near the shore and the ports where it's usually less expensive, so this morning's low price surprised me. Wonder if we'll ever see $1.99 again? Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter because it's not like anyone can boycott it... it's a necessity.
It's always higher in CA, than in most other states...at least ones Ive been in. Chevron always has the highest price also, at least here. I can get it cheaper but I'd have to drive further and it's not worth the little I would save.
We have our share of gas price changes here. Some 2 years ago, a liter of unleaded gasoline has a pump price of 54 pesos. But when the world market prices tumbled, the reverberation reached our shores which pegged the price down to around 34 pesos. Now it is 39 pesos per liter and it was stabilizing in those numbers and has no indication that it would go back to that 54-level. Since I am in charge of paying the credit card purchases which includes the gas expenses, I have felt the big difference of the lower price of gasoline now.
Awwww Corie! You're going to make me convert pesos *and* liters??!! Okay, okay... hold on a sec. My brain's gonna hurt 'til this is over. One liter is 0.26 gallons. Currency conversion?! Yikes! Uh..... currently 0.021... Philippine peso... not to be confused with Mexican peso. No idea what it was two years ago, but today that would be... Well, I can't do it. Uh... who's really REALLY good with math and conversion? (Psssst, don't tell Corie I couldn't do it myself!) If I'm doing it even partially right, it's pretty much under a USD but I'm not sure if that would be accurate.
@Mari North, your comment reminds me of the thread on Metric conversion, hahahaaah. Sorry if I forgot to do the conversion because I don't think it would be relevant for you to understand the actual cost of gasoline here since you can't get gasoline here anyway. But I agree that you will get a headache in converting liters to gallons and pesos to dollars. Maybe you just have to digest the numbers which said 54 that went down to 34 so that is substantial price reduction. And now it is hovering at 39, that is from 34. Oh, well....
I had to put gas in my car this morning, but didn't look at the price. It wouldn't have mattered as I was nearly on empty.
It is $1.95 out here in Alabama; so you just have to look in the right places to find that price, I guess. We just went past the gas station on our trip to Walmart, and I remembered this thread; so I looked to see how much gas was here. I think that it is down a little; because I am pretty sure it was just over $2 per gallon when we gassed up at Sam's club the other day. It used to be that gas went up during the summer, and especially on holidays, but then I guess not enough people were traveling, so they lowered it back down a bit again.
Gas is about 1.90 per gallon in my area, all I can say is I'm lovin it, but I think they were even lower earlier in the year. It is always nice when you can find low prices on gas because you can do more traveling which is something I really like to do. Also, even routine errands are better with lower gas prices. Obviously you don't have to pay as much running around town...and who doesn't like that??
Looking at Ken's link I see I can get gas for $2.39 as the lowest price in Fresno but all those cheap prices are far from me and it parts of Fresno where I wouldn't go even during the day. I'd rather pay the $2.99 near my house. In Fresno I don't drive far anyway, everything is so close to me. My longest drives are the 157 miles to my daughter about twice a month.
$2.23 here but that's because this is a small town with only a few gas stations. Gas is $2.10 in Bangor, sixty miles from here.
I live in Hawaii on Oahu. When I ride the bus mainly on the leeward side the gas prices at Aloha, Tessoro are 2.68 right now. I like the lower prices for we get to keep our recent bus pas prices which is currently $60. We are having a rail built and I see in the bus that we can use our bus pass for both rail and riding the bus...I hope the price doesn't go up for these bus passes.
