Oh Ken, how do you make comedy out of this? Pretty sad but I guess that's what one gets when one posts some "other" stuff here. More comedy: https://www.thedailybeast.com/jon-s...victims-fund-gets-standing-ovation?ref=scroll
You are the one who brought it up, Joy. Jon Stewart American Comedian Since his comedy gig is fading, perhaps he's trying his hand at drama. I'm not a fan.
I was a paramedic for more than twenty years and a firefighter for six, and I couldn't possibly care less what Jon Stewart has to say about anything.
I quoted your post, Joy; before you edited it. The reason why some forums don't allow members to edit their posts is that there are always those, like yourself, who cannot be depended upon to be honest. Had you told me that you had misspoken and that you had intended to say something else, that would be fine. Instead, you denied having ever said it. There's no point in trying to have a discussion with a liar.
I really do not know what he’s trying to accomplish. In the first place, Rudy Giuliani (who was mayor at the time) made sure that the first responders and families were the first to have their cut of the over 1 billion dollars that was donated. Just from the donations, each family should have gotten a little over 176,000 beans Now, it’s a given that all the money hasn’t been doled out by various organizations such as the United Way. Why? Dunno but going through a congressional hearing instead of suing the actual culprits seems like a fruitless bunch of hooie. Let’s also examine what healthcare that those firefighters and policemen are given. They’re unionized which demands a healthcare plan and the city of New York has health insurance on each and every cop and firefighter. Now, let me ask this single question. If a firefighter or policeman dies whilst in the line of duty, to whom are the benefits paid? The family. They get the social security survivor benefits, the life insurance (burial is financed by the city of New York) not to mention the survivors pension. In the case of 9/11, they even got a cut of the donations. It’s a given that the collapse of the twin towers was a travesty but to be totally objective about it, (which is super hard to do) how is the death of a firefighter who died putting a fire out at a home any different than attempting to put out the fire and save lives at the twin towers? How is getting cancer from one burning building any different than getting cancer from any other? One is bigger, yes. One was caused by a terrorist activity. Yes. But, isn’t that the job of a firefighter? Policemen and firefighters lives are lost every single week in any major city but I do not see any great fanfare nor donations coming in for their families. Why, other than having a larger emotional value, is the twin towers incident and the death of policemen and firefighters any different than on any other day?
