As an adult. Rarely went to the movies as a child, because you had to have someone drive you to a theater. First cable TV was when I moved to Georgia, 1975. Turner Classic Movies. Same for the Wizard of Oz, and most any other classic movie.
That would have been television because I didn't go to the movie theaters and since we didn't get television until sometimes in the 1960s, most of the early television shows and movies that I've seen were in syndication. For the first year or so after we got television, I didn't watch it much because only one channel came in clearly, while a couple of others came in fuzzy or not at all. I didn't see what the fuss was about.
I didn’t see any TV until I was about 23 , ( in 1969 ) then it was only ABC so it was mainly B BC TV shows and documentary’s , and lots of children’s shows like play school ect. The first time I would have seen lassie would have been black and white TV in late 1971 I first seen commercial TV when I moved 500 Km away from New South Wales to South Aust in 1971 ( black and white ) colour TV was introduced in South Aust. in 1975 I never owned a TV until I was about 35 years old it was very quite expensive to buy a colour TV at the time it was cheaper to rent one
The name of the original Lassie movie was called "Lassie Come Home" & starred Elizabeth Taylor & Roddy Mc Dowall.

I suspect about the mid 60's when I was around 10 years old! 1943 my mother was only 9 , I doubt she was ever taken to see a movie... she was raised in an orphanage!!
I have no idea when I saw them, but it was on television, not the theater. My brother liked the series, I just watched with him.
I think I was about 6 when we first had a TV, (early 60's) it was a modern style, for the time.. similar to this... ..very unlike my granny's TV set which sat on top of her dresser... and had a tiny screen... ..but my great uncle ( my granny's brother ) didn't have a Tv so every night he would go around to my gran's house leaving his big family behind at home with the 'wireless'' as entertainment , and sit all evening watching TV.
