How I detest the media - again so negative
I saw Liam's interview and felt absolute compassion for the confession he made
I also saw the subsequent interview of explanation
Why, oh why, is he now going through the wringer because of it !
I hope he will come through this rotten time and gathers much support
Instinct - we can all identify with - 'action' - another matter

Perhaps I am being a bit sarcastic when I mention that if one cop does something wrong there is a sudden violent persecution for all cops or if a person of color rapes or murders another human of any color there is a “hang ‘em high” attitude toward the whole of the race of the person who actually did the evil deed.
I could mention a whole lot of hypocrisy but the bottom line is that at least Liam didn’t act on his emotions unlike a lot of Americans do today so condemning someone for their thoughts rather than their action is somewhat ludicrous.
It would seem that taking action on one’s emotions is more acceptable than simply thinking about it.

Yes, feel the same way about this
Its just 'instinct' to react this way, I'm sure most people would react the same
If someone close to you is harmed by a senseless violent act - its going to affect you mentally

I liked Neeson in Schindler's List, where he played Nazi war plant manager Oskar Schlinder, who saved hundreds of Jews from death camps.

I to liked him in Schindler's List but lost a lot of respect for him when he became an anti-gunner after having a history of gun violent movies like the Taken series.

Yep - can understand that - unless he did the movies 'before' he became an anti gunner
Even so, I wish actors were more choosy in their roles, hard for them these days I know, not a lot of 'choice'

Maybe it was already in the pipeline, I do agree with you though - if you believe in something strongly enough
then be strong enough to portray that feeling to the hilt

I think it's sad that anything we say now days...is going to cause "offense" to someone somewhere.

I agree with a lot of what you say. My problem is that he withdrew his candid admission almost as soon as he spoke it. It's not his fault. You can't say you had a racist thought, or committed a racist action, even 40 years after the fact, as you will be labeled and treated as a racist. So, he immediately qualified:

"Oh definitely. If she had said an Irish or a Scot or a Brit or a Lithuanian, I know it would have had the same effect. I was trying to show honour and stand up for my dear friend in this terrible medieval fashion. And I’m a fairly intelligent guy and that’s why it shocked me when I came down to earth after having these horrible feelings. Luckily, no violence occurred ever, thanks be to God."

He would have then hit the streets looking to do harm to a Lithuanian? Any Lithuanian? I don't believe so. Close, but no cigar Liam.

I have wondered why he felt the need to bring that up after 40 years. Could it be because, "There is no bad publicity unless they misspell your name"?

@Shirley Martin - I 'think' it was because his latest film is on a similar theme to what happened to him
I've only seen 'one' of his films

@M. Bulgakov - Yes - tend to agree with your above post
I will add though, the emotional feelings he felt at the time is completely understandable
