Vermont and New Hampshire came in second and third. Maine has the lowest overall violent crime rate, according to the US News and World Report. In terms of violent crimes, Maine was the safest. For property crimes, the state had the 4th lowest rate. -- Z 107.3 That's because we have a lot of guns.
Or maybe it's because there are lots of Andersons. You recently stated they were the best people. I don't know where Florida would be, but probably nowhere near the lower crime statistic end.
Yeah, because everything else is legal. OK, OK. I promise no more jokes about that. It's a truly magnificent state and I'm glad you and your wife finally are settling into your dream destination.
@Ken Anderson Vermont was originally the best state regarding carrying guns. "The State neither issues nor requires a permit to carry a weapon on one's person, openly or concealed. This is known in the U.S. as constitutional carry, since one's "permit" is the United States Constitution. Vermont is the only state where this has always been the case (hence the alternative term Vermont carry[6]). Vermont law does not distinguish between residents and non-residents of the state; both have the same right to carry permit-free while in Vermont." Maine issues concealed carry permits for those who want them, but a permit is no longer required to carry openly or concealed. Some states recognize Maine's concealed carry permit so I guess that's why some people get them. Also perhaps because the legislature could change that law at any moment, given that the Democrats are in control of both houses and the gubernatorial seat. Our constitutional carry law just passed a few years ago, when we had Republicans in office.
