I don't know! It's just not one thing and it seems that even the things that are in place weren't followed up on so I'm a little bit upset about all of it. I have 5 grandsons ranging from kindergarten to college.....I hope it never happens to them. I'd start with the age ...18 is too young for an AK 15 in my opinion. He wasn't hunting, he didn't need it for protection, he shouldn't have passed the background check either. Sadly it will happen again. Maybe make the schools a little safer somehow.....everybody on the same page and practice more for active shooting scenarios. Did the deputy who was chicken have a bullet proof vest? That might have made him a little less chicken to go in...I don't know. Maybe bullet proof doors in all classrooms....of course this all costs money.
I think we need to make sure of 2 things: 1. Preventing these shooters from getting acces to guns, and 2. Preventing these shooters from gaining access to the school grounds and buildings.
Maybe rejection ....... some boys just don't fit in and I think its harder for them a girl will usually find a friend. Kids can be very cruel and I really think classes on relationships would be worthwhile Too much emphasis on material things today and not enough on emotion
It seems to almost always be young, white men/boys who are shooters. It also seems that most of them have given signals that they are troubled. Maybe if someone close to them would get help for them?
Admittedly, it hasn't been a point of research for me, but a study into the long range effects of doping up children (mostly boys I understand) should be given carte' blanche treatment. If a young lad shows any behavior that used to be accredited to, "boys will be boys" then they are given prescriptions to settle them down and force them to pay more attention. Doped up in other words. At some point, especially when the most confusing stage of a young man's life enters in, puberty, something is going to give. Is it by accident that throughout history, boys from the ages of 13 to 18 have been introduced into military life? The primitive aspects of the male psyche during the teen years is one that we naturally repress due to societal leanings, religion, environment etc but when a number of years of well practiced repression are artificially induced instead of natural progression, something is going to go boom. The brain is going to fight back and give everything a new dose of testosterone, the lid comes off. Just as an example: No one without practice can pick up a heavy weight. It's progressive. We practice until we can. But, artificially introduce a good dose of HGH (human growth hormone) into the human construct and a heavy weight is fairly easy to work with. The body isn't given any time to work up to maneuvering the weight so when the artificial substance is removed, the body cannot cope and will break.
We ladies sure go through a hard time emotionally during our teens too I guess its harder for the boys in the sense they have to 'prove' themselves as potential 'men' We girls can be more 'flouncy' although that's changed now also Some of them strive to be manly.... .... but true For others, they now have the added pressure to be sexually active ! Teen life is a lot more pressured today for sure
I did not fit the mold in my teen years, I wanted things, so I worked all I could and at 1 time frame had 3 jobs at 1 time, I had a saying "what can I do to make this happen?" I still go by that, I was able to have about anything I wanted from this outlook. Later in my life's employment I was usually the one who was asked can you do this? So many times on things just not quite allowed by policy yet needed to be done, I was usually very successful .
There is no doubt that the young ladies do have a difficult time of it as well. Here's the biggest difference as I see it. Girls, from the earliest years are well known to be better students. They listen more, absorb more, and seemingly concentrate on the problems a lot more in the school room than their counterparts. Boys are like a beagle. They can stay on track as long as a bug doesn't cross it. It doesn't take a whole lot to distract a young male but in the last 20 or so years, they dope the kids up so they have to stay on track. They are trying to make the boys be as attentive as the girls but that's just not how things work in the natural world. The brain will only take so much abuse and something, at some time is going to snap and unfortunately, I believe all of these shootings are a direct result of that happening. Thus far, I do believe that every one of the young men involved in mass shootings were on some sort of prescribed brain altering drug like Ritalin when they snapped. I am sure that the smallest bit of research will prove me correct but in the medical community, the side effects I mentioned will be denied.
