Shared a table with Gus at tonight's dinner. Gus has his apartment on the first floor and I am on the second.
He is retired from both the Air Force 20 years and the Veteran's Administration 20 years for a total 40 years of government service. Now that things have opened up somewhat, I am able to meet and visit with people and make new friends.

Glad you're getting to socialize some, Lon. Gus sounds like an interesting guy.

He must have served in the early years of Vietnam. Poor guy, appears he may have some serious heath problems.

Well, duh. If he didn't, he wouldn't be in assisted living.

Gus is 83 and did serve in the early years of Viet Nam and as Shirley said, he would not be living here if he didn't have health problems. He is sitting in his walker.

She is currently in the hospital and we are all waiting for her to be back in her apartment. Not sure why she is in the hospital and before going in she was walking and talking well. She was in the apartment next to mine when I moved in four years ago. All the residents are eager to see her hit that 100 mark well.

Well, Lon, at a Senior age, much more than younger ages, our health can sometimes change, for the worse, on a dime. Hope she makes it back and gets to that "100" birthday. Can just depend on what she went to, and staying at, the hospital for.

They brought Evelyn back from the hospital a few hours ago. She fell 10 days ago and was taken to the hospital.
Her son said she will not be able to walk on her own again and will need to be transported. I'll bet she will be in the dining room for dinner tonight. We all want to see this lovely woman make her 100 birthday October 14th.

MY NEIGHBOR EVELYN.jpg After returning to our assisted living from the hospital where she spent 10 days after her fall I now see her in the dining room for all meals chatting and smiling with her table mates. As I have mentioned previously, she will be 100 years old October 14th this year and we are all looking forward to celebrating the event.

The attached picture is her 99th birthday last year.

How can anyone who is nearly 100 years old be "great"??? It boggles the mind.

I just found out that a woman who's affiliated with one of our 3 churches recently had a fall but is doing well...she was 93 when I met her in 2011.
