I do not know, Patsy. Mine only beeps at me, the driver, and it doesn't care if anyone else in the car has seat belts on or not. Does this mean that you found a new car and are done with the car-shopping fun ? What kind of car did you end up buying , and how do you like it ?

If the belt isn't pulled and attached, an alarm goes off. The alarm is connected to the inside of the seatbelt where it connects either at the top or bottom. Our vehicle has warning lights on the dash for doors and back hatch when they are not completely shut. It's pretty amazing about the computer and warning systems in today's vehicles.

@Cody Fousnaugh - I can understand that for the driver but there may be no passenger in the car
I'll have to test how long the beep goes on for

My daughter's beeps even if the passenger isn't buckled. Mine beeps if I'm not buckled but Pickles might be too lightweight to be noticed by my car...he doesn't buckle up and I've not had any person in the passenger seat or didn't notice because it's automatic for me to buckle up, been doing it for too many years now.

Yes @Cody Fousnaugh ...my car shows when a car door is not closed completely or the trunk.

My daughter's car even alerts her if someone is in her blind spot or she's too near a curb or anything.

@Yvonne Smith - Yes, we found one and for a modern car, I like it :p
Its a Nissan Note, not the new models, an older one and they are better looking
I can get in and out easier and the doors open 'wide' to get the shopping out easier :)

There is a sensor in the seat to let the vehicle know there is an occupant. Experiment by putting something heavy in the seat... like my wife's purse. From there it is the belt sensor.

That's it..........a sensor. A sensor is in each front seat for the airbags as well.
