I'll be buying a new computer within the next month.

A Windows 10 all-in-one touch screen, with the CPU in the same housing as the Monitor.

I'd like to have a Computer Tech transfer my picture files from the old machine to the new one and set everything up for me.

I'd rather pay to have a Tech do this than trust myself and bungle it.

Seems like a very good investment of your time and resources.

Dunno but if you could, please wait for a day until I can find a bookie who will give me some odds this time.

Joking? Service Plans aren't for techs to do this kind of work. Service Plans are for repairs.

The Best Buy salesman says the Plan would include the Tech coming to your house and setting it up for you. I'll find out more today when I visit Best Buy again.

There's an HP model SQA38AA all-in-one touch-screen model that has a Solid State Hard Drive instead of the usual spinning disc.

Do any of you have this technology in your computers?

Do you get a refund of the service plan cost when you return the computer the next week after it is set up ?

Yvonne, I'm hoping all will go well this time with my 4th purchase of a W10 machine!

As that the real you in your Avatar?

Yes, our IMacs and IPads are solid state flash drives.

Actually, Hal, I'd talk to/find out directly from Geek Squad Customer Service if they will do the set up you want. It can be disturbing when a sales person tells you one thing, and another employee in the store, tells you "sorry, I have no idea why that person told you that. It's not true." Have had that happen to me before and it can be irritating to the mind.

Truly, I would like to see that happen for you, too, @Hal Pollner ! I know that it has been really frustrating for you, knowing that your old computer is past obsolete, but having trouble adjusting to the operating systems on the newer computers.
I am concerned about your adapting to using a touchscreen when all you have ever used is a mouse, but your all-in-one should give you the option of doing either one.
We had a Dell XPS-18 which was very similar to the one you are thinking about, and it is actually great to be able to use the device as either a desktop computer, a laptop, or as a tablet (although it was large and heavy to use as a touchscreen tablet and carry it anywhere).

If Best Buy will set the computer up for you, and give you basic instructions about how it is going to be different to operate than what you are used to having, I think that you will probably be happy with this computer, and will find out how easy and enjoyable a touchscreen is to use, and the many advantages that touchscreens have over regular screens.

The avatar IS indeed the “real me”, Hal. When I bought the old iMac computer month or so ago, I saw that it had a webcam, and decided to try playing with taking a picture of myself. It didn’t turn out bad, so I changed the background (which was just me sitting in my desk chair).
Here is the original before the background change.

Yvonne, your reply is certainly confidence-inspiring!

I appreciate the sincere thought that went into it!

    Thank you so much...

Well, couldn’t find any good odds so all bets are off.

    @Cody Fousnaugh and Yvonne gave some really good advice but if you choose not to do that;
What if, when you go back to Best Buy, you find the youngest guy there and offer him a room at your house for say, 6 months in return for services rendered?

I might be able to get some decent odds on how long it would be before you return him AND the computer so it’s worth a shot especially if you place a bet on yourself.

We have a Dell Inspiron all-in-one with the touch screen, but honestly we never use the touch screen capability. A 24" monitor with finger prints all over it is too annoying. :D (But of course it can be used with keyboard/mouse so no big deal.) I prefer the portability of my laptop or iPad, so my husband is the primary user of the desktop machine, and he only uses it for bill paying and financial stuff.

The Geek Squad service contract might be a good idea for you, Hal. I've never used them but I've seen their cars on my street from time to time. Looks like there is a charge of $49.95 for a home visit, so be sure you know what the $200/year is buying.
