Almost every electronic thing we buy today we buy the Extended Warranty/Service Plan for it. Sometimes we will buy the entire amount of years offered. We will be buying my wife and new Del Inspiration laptop for this Christmas. Right now, the one she wants is around $1,500, but have to add on the cost of the Excel/Word download and the Service Plan. By Black Friday, that cost should come down and we will get it. The old Toshiba laptop we currently have is some 10 years old, still running Windows 7 and is extremely slow. I'm always hearing her complain about it's speed or something else about it. Windows 10 did show up, for a free download, sometime back. I did download it, but, at the time, didn't like it, so deleted the Windows 10 and done a "recovery" of Windows 7. Now I absolutely love Windows 10, that came with our Dell Desktop, and wish I hadn't deleted it on the laptop. But, Windows 10 will be on her new one.
