There has been an urgent invite from King Kong Un to the leader of South Korea
Why - I wonder, after all this time .............
A difficult decision for South Korea

Who knows? I think they shook hands at the Olympics.

Will just have to wait and see what happens...too many scenarios to speculate.

So long as it isn't a forced unification, I'd think that the unification would a good thing, whatever type of government they decide upon. I keep hearing things from the media about how that's a bad thing, that the North Korean leader is in talks with the South Korean leader, but I think a peaceful solution is better than ongoing tensions. Maybe it won't develop into anything like that, but communication is still a positive development.

I agree, my initial reaction was positive then I felt negative because of the recent tension with America
I hope it is positive and genuine

Not everyone chooses the same kind of government that we'd like them to have, but perhaps it doesn't work everywhere or for everyone.

Do wonder if China is putting a little pressure on NK.

Might be a good thing and maybe partly down to Trump.

On my MSN newsfeed an article came up that the North Korean athletes from the Olympics could be in danger as this country has a history of imprisoning athletes in the past who didn't perform well. This country seems like a giant prison. I had posted about the fears I had for these athletes prior to the Olympics and it could be true.

I read that @Kitty Carmel . Surely they won't harm them with the whole world watching.

I don't know @Shirley Martin There is so much going on in that country no one knows about. And those athletes look miserable and scared.

One of the rather bizarre proposals I've seen lately, was a statement by Dennis Rodman that he was going to meet with Kim Jong Un to "patch tghings up". Evidently, it would not be the first time. The picture of him, resplendent in bloody piercings and gougings, surely must have had effect on Kim, what kind, though, is uncertain.

Kim and Dennis have favorable relations. I never liked Rodman but that doesn't matter. Maybe he could be useful, but he could be a loose canon. As long as things are tense with NK, I'd deny him the right to travel to NK unless I wanted to use him as a messenger. Too, we don't know what Kim might do to his athletes who didn't do well. The world may be watching but we can't see anything unless they want us to know.

You know how the media pretends that Trump doesn't have a clue about foreign affairs and that he is winging it on North Korea. Here's an interview that Trump did with Wolf Blitzer in November of 1999.

Erin Burnett was interviewing several "experts", both of whom bashed Trump for the "unrealistic time frame, as everyone knows such meetings require planning and staging needing 6 months to a year, media announcements, pre-check security conditions, early entourage arrival, critical screening, etc., etc.", ad nauseum.

    I turned it off.
