Today is Remembrance Day in Australia being November 11th . We called it Poppy Day when we went to school .
Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty.

My younger brother would have been 72 today as well if he was still alive he was murdered by an unknown person in 1964 at exactly one month off turning 15 so I always remember my brothers birthday as well as respecting Remembrance Day

Here, it was originally called Armistice Day but has been changed to Veteran's Day, supposedly honoring those who have served in the military. Our Memorial Day to remember our dead military members occurred originally on May 31, but has been moved to the last Monday on May to allow Federal workers more time off.
