I have another question. I've seen a flyer around my neighborhood that charges $6 for cleaning per panel. It's probably a cleaning company expanding their customer base. Mine are 4x6. What is the consensus about the benefits of a proper cleaning? Worth it or ripoff? Thanks.
Me? I would get a container of Liquid Gold, if it is wood paneling. Maybe Dawn dish soap (very dilute) if it is vinyl coated. A sponge mop (with a terry cloth around it for wood) Interesting new business.
Given Nick's prior posts, I'm gonna guess solar. But I think he previously asked about a 1 or 2 panel rig to charge batteries, so I would think one could clean those oneself. In any event, I have no frame of reference for reasonable cost, and it likely varies by what part of the country you're in, whether it's ground level or rooftop, etc.
I think it makes sense to not block the sunlight with dust & pollen. Just wait to see what they recommend for wind turbines and the effects on endangered species. When the EPA is a PITA, use Gutz ᗺ Gone! Like it never happened!!!
Progress is funny. Our panels had an opaque panel over the top, supposedly to keep the light from just reflecting back out. These were not silicone based units. But in the meantime, Nick is just rolling his eyes at each of my responses.
Nick originally asked about a 2 panel charging system for batteries. His panels are few, and they are ground-level. I'd be tempted to clean them myself if they were mine, but for $12, I might pay someone else to do it and wear an ascot as I watched, just for effect.
