This week is the period for filing of candidacy to national and local positions. As of today, Thursday, there are now 60 candidates for president, and 13 for vice president and around 60 for senators vying for the 12 seats in the senate. The last day of filing is tomorrow, Friday the 16th.

About half of the 60 aspiring president intimated that they were called by God to serve their country. There is even one that mentioned aliens and cosmic vibrations or whatever. It is sad that our election system is being mocked by those people who don't even have a penny to show. How could they launch a decent campaign when they have no funds?

The filing for candidacy to the 2016 national elections in our country ended yesterday, Friday. There are 130 aspirants for the presidency but less than 10 are the serious ones and the rest will be declared nuisance candidates. That's the state of affairs every start of the election period because there is no stringent requirement for the applicants to elective positions. As long as one is a Filipino citizen, can read and write, age 40 and above, go. That's why those with loose screws are able to submit an application.

There is this guy named Rodrigo Duterte who is mayor of Davao City in down south. He has many supporters who are clamoring for him to run. But he didn't file. Until last night, past the deadline for filing, some people are still hoping Duterte would change his mind. What a guy, he is not after anything, not opportunistic like those 130.
