I am Vintage photo obsessed...seriously...I luuuurve them, and literally have thousands stored on my PC. Those are fantasticaly clear photos for 75 years ago Chrissy...thanks for that, I've bookmarked that site..
I love them too. Shorpy is a good site for vintage photos! Chrissy I especially liked these of Maine, since my ex husband's father came from Caribou.
From what I am told, Millinocket, Maine slid through the depression pretty easily. Nearly everyone was employed by Great Northern Paper Company, and the machines kept running. Some of the hours were cut back, but not by much, and the town came out of the Depression the second wealthiest town in Maine. That is no longer.
