I actually have no recent health issue. The only health issue I have, aside from the perennial kidney stones and high blood which I have maintenance medications for both, is being overweight. I'm not obese yet and I am trying my best to maintain my weight, waiting for a chance to drastically reduce it. I thought of this thread because one doctor on a tv show said that expressing your health issue somehow lessens the gravity of your suffering.
He's wrong Talking about my health issues just brings them to the fore and I relive me angst over them, when I spend each day trying to distract from them ................
I have low thyroid but only if I don't take my meds. Have some back problems. Had an abnormal EKG but what it showed is benign unless more tests show something else. I'm 5' 4" and average about 126 lbs. don't have high blood pressure or High cholesterol and not diabetic. Only time I've been in a hospital is to give birth.
Still get some annoying type pain in my left shoulder from a rotator cuff surgery last year/2015/March. Don't know how much of the pain is due to arthritis or something else in the shoulder. Will schedule an x-Ray and possible MRI. Getting very tired of taking Motrin on a daily basis for the pain. Other than that, medication for high blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes (type ll). For some, being in the later 60's and retired isn't nearly as enjoyable as many would think
I get a pain in my left shoulder occasionally too but haven't had any surgery. Had it x rayed but nothing showed. Maybe twice a month it will hurt but nothing eases it when it does.
@Chrissy Page - shoulder and neck pain is awful, but then most pain is Could be the way we lay our little head - pillow perhaps, I've tried hundreds of them
I agree, I can't stand have my hair shampooed at a beauty salon because I always end up with a pinched nerve in my neck. They usually put a towel down on the basin but it only helps a little.
I really don't like listing all my health issues as my weight and lifestyle has caused some of them. Plus it only reminds me what old age may hold for me if i don't loose more weight. So far, I have dropped 54 pounds. But I have many more to go.
Congratulations on the weight loss, Beth...that's awesome. It's not easy especially after the initial loss. Frustrating when you're dieting and don't lose anything but a lb or two in a month. I had to lose 30 lbs when I quit smoking 9 years ago. Took awhile.
@Corie Henson I absolutely agree with you, that expressing issues helps suffering! Kidney stones? Serious business, Corie. High blood pressure, a myriad of useful lowering medications, nowadays. Overweight? The Dr. cannot drop your overweight. It must be done from "within, one's own sheer will to do it. But, waiting for "a chance to drastically reduce it" will not solve the problem. Stop waiting, and take steps NOW. Frank
Sometimes though losing weight in the right places is hard. My tummy is my main area of trouble but if I diet I lose it in my legs....they can't get much skinnier. Here is a pic from last year...I don't wear shorts too often because what fits my waist is huge in my thigh area...same issue with jeans.
@Chrissy Page Well,...........at least I showed the upper half, even though it's a 40-year old image! Ha! Frank
We'll this is about a year old image, there's a camera in front if my face anyway. All my shots are like that.
I found out the ache in my shoulder is bursitis! It's awful to have this ache, but I exercise as my doctor ordered. It started with trigger fingers on my right hand then in about a year it went to bursitis in my right shoulder. I too mus loose weight and I take meds for too high ldl cholesterol. I watch very carefully me sugar intake too and right now am in a safe place as for what my numbers are, but I got to go to safer numbers for my blood numbers. Well, here's hoping I get better and I'm trying very hard to keep healthy, too! All I can say is it all better work!
