Prefer Taking Off Or Landing?

    Both rotors mounted coaxially would mean simplicity as well as not requiring complete synchronism between them, speed-wise. Great idea, and still no torque reaction to spin the craft around. The more I learn, the more I wish to find out! As usual. Thank you for that! Frank

    Yeah, I am the same way.
    The thing with having a tail rotor is that if it is damaged, a Huey has to maintain a 60 knot speed in order to stay trim and not screw yourself into the ground. That may sound all good at first, but the pilot also has to land it at 60........with skids. And, with a rotor + tail rotor, unless the transmission is damaged, any problem with the engine and the chopper can auto-rotate safely to the ground.
    Now, exactly how auto-rotation works with a dual rotor, I am not entirely sure. Probably about the same.
