I read that even wheat is sprayed with Roundup. Can this be true ?
I ask because I have MAJOR bowel troubles. No G.I. Dr has been able to diagnose my problem

If they sprayed wheat with Roundup, it would kill it.

Yes. It is even recommended by Monsanto as pretreatment prior to harvest...

The amount present during consumption is another matter entirely. All tests have indicated it is below any danger threshold. That is not to say it won't be harmful to you. We all have certain things that we are allergic to.

I stand corrected. They do use it on wheat. I'm still at a loss to understand why, though. If it's ready to harvest, why do they need to spray it?

It would be weed control for the next crop, without damaging the current crop.

But why couldn't they harvest the wheat then spray?

OK. My son tells me that Roundup is nothing but some kind of salt. He says it won't hurt you. Me, I'm not so sure.

It is a matter of exposure to the ingredients of roundup, that is the issue.

Ask your son what would happen if he were to gobble down a couple pounds of salt. It would be unhealthy, just like too much exposure to roundup would be unhealthly. The debate is "how much is too much". You can actually become seriously ill from drinking too much water in a short period of time. Again... the how much, which varies by individual.

A lot of people here use it in their gardens. I refused to ever use it in my garden. I would rather keep it clean with a weeding hoe than use chemicals.

I wonder is it possible roundup has destroyed my intestines just from consuming flour ?

What I have read about it was that it contained something called glyphosphate (or some word like that) and it is similar to what is used in antifreeze for cars. I will do some more research and see what I can find.
However, almost all of the wheat produced in the United States has also been genetically modified (not just hybrid breeding) and it now has a very different DNA from the old time wheat, of even 50 years ago. It used to be that wheat grew almost up to our waist; but with the new genetic modification, now it only grow about 2 feet tall, and produces much more ears of grain per head, thus making it faster to grow and more grain per acre for harvest.
But not necessarily better for us to eat it.

@Eric Cook ,I doubt it. If that was the problem, almost everybody would have your problems.

Anything is possible, just as I suspect a lot of intestinal problems started with overuse of antibiotics.

Even if the flour and possibly roundup has damaged your digestive tract and intestines, I think that by making a radical change in your diet, it would be possible to heal them again, @Eric Cook .
There are other things besides flour or gluten that can cause gut problems, and if you can start eliminating some of the possibilities, you might be able to start healing.

I think that we might even have some threads in the wellness/health section that are specific to gut and bowel problems, if you are open to natural treatments . It sounds like you have already eliminated most of the treatments that regular doctors can do already.

And by the way........ a warm welcome to the forum ! Happy to have you join us here. Pretty sure that at least some of us know you from elsewhere, as well.
