We are looking for a new stove, or Jake is, I'm ok with the one we have, but it is old, so I understand.

I hear people are having trouble finding appliances that aren't always in need of repair, any suggestions?

What often , too often, happens, is the "new" one stops working within six months to two years, and the old one is still working fine.

My thoughts exactly. I told Jake at least we have backups, grill and small 2 burner Coleman camp stove will both work in an emergency.

I've become paranoid about buying or even selling now. I wonder 'what in the heck were we thinking ' too often.
I used to think of myself as practical or conservative about finance, now decisions are harder to make.

I have an Induction cooktop/stove. It has a ceramic top...not glass. It is cooks "like" a gas stove but is electric. It heats up really fast and cooks evenly, and changes temperature instantly. I have had mine for about 7 years and have not had any problems with it. Downside...If you do not cook a lot, it probably wouldn't be a good investment because they are expensive. Plus, Induction stoves require magnetic pots and pans or cast iron to work so that would be another expensive, if you don't have the right cookware. That was not a problem for me since I already have al-clad cookware that I bought piece by piece over many years. If I didn't already have the cookware, I don't know if I would have bought it. But after cooking on one, I really can't imagine having any other stove now. I like one of the safety features since I am older and can get forgetful, when I am trying to do too many things at one time. :p If you take a pot off the stove, and forget to turn the burner off, it shuts off after 30-60 seconds.

Those are nice our SIL has one, but we have a tank of propane to use. It doesn't come cheap.

Having no clue as to what's good and what isn't, all I can say is that we've had zero problems with KitchenAid (which are made by Whirlpool) gas stoves over the years.

It never has been really, credit and welfare spoiled us and things got easier. Now we are paying the Piper.
Nothing is free someday some way somebody is going to pay.

This happens sometimes due to a side effect of mal-nutrition when aging,

but even more perhaps because society is totally screwed up and mixed up and so much more is so very wrong today, much much more than decades ago, even just one decade ago, although the bad stuff happening today was already planned and in the works by the time we were born, eh?

Also, life was easier for some when they had a truly faithful group to meet with daily , or at least to call upon any time.

Now there is hardly anyone faithful anyone knows to call upon, finding someone honest is difficult and rare, and most people are for money, influenced, and not for truth all the time.

Ignorance is bliss. I don't mean that as being wise or mean. Some of us do more research and that can be a problem with religion. I left the church aka congregation many years ago to my sorrow, yet I knew they were not teaching the Bible I studied and understood.
