http://www.smarttravels.tv/RealRailTV/shows/switzerland Having found nothing of interest yesterday on the regular channels I watch, I found myself on one of our 3 PBS stations and watched Host Jeff Wilson take me through Switzerland by rail. I thoroughly enjoyed taking this trip with Jeff while sitting on my couch. Not only did I get a history lesson on how Switzerland has excelled in rail transportation throughout the years, but also got to see how beautiful Switzerland is. After watching this I have to ask myself why is America so behind on our rail service? I think I'll be doing a lot more "armchair" traveling from now on.
Ive been in Switzerland but long ago. One of my favorite European countries because its diverse depending on what region you're in. We went to 3 different ones...Zurich which was German influenced, Lugano which was Italian and I think Lausanne and Geneva which were French. This was when I graduated from high school in 1969, my parents, 2 sisters and brother went to Europe for 6 weeks. Of course we did Hungary but also Switzerland, Portugal and France.
How nice that you actually got to vacation in some of these places @Chrissy Cross. Is there any of those places you would like to go back and see again?
All of them. Maybe not Paris, once was enough but anywhere in Europe would make me happy...My sister just got back from Spain and she loved it...wasn't her first time but it's been awhile. They did avoid the trouble spots though. My daughter and family took a Mediterranean cruise this summer and she loved ROME and wants to to that without a cruise...maybe she'll take me....hopefully.
