I expect Representative Omar from Minnesota to make a speech declaring "somebody did something in Sri Lanka on Easter..." Here is the link
The terrorist behind one of the bombings in Sri Lanka was an Islamist Extremist Imam and preacher by the name of Moulvi Zahran Hashim
@Don Alaska In my (uneducated) mind's eye, I have imagined Sri Lanka as being a typical 3rd. world quagmire. Not so. Check this: "With a literacy rate of 92.5%,[266] Sri Lanka has one of the most literate populations amongst developing nations.[314] Its youth literacy rate stands at 98%,[315] computer literacy rate at 35%,[316] and primary school enrollment rate at over 99%". See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sri_Lanka#Geography
There's a lot of terrorism there, though. I remember reading that several months ago when I was updating the directory listings for Sri Lanka. Although I try to accentuate the positives in a directory listing since the business model is to encourage businesses and organizations there to submit their sites, I often take an interest in each category that I am creating or writing a description for, and generally read far beyond that which I am going to use in the description. It's a country that has been struggling for a government, as well as a religion, both hampered by frequent foreign invasions and influences. When the British left, it soon became socialist, but with a series of assassinations, coups, civil wars, and politically motivated murders of thousands of civilians. Although it is said to be the oldest democracy in Asia, its government has never been stable. It now has a democratic-republic form of government, but its government has faced coups and violent resistance, including a civil war that lasted more than twenty years, and only concluded ten years ago. The Sri Lankan government has itself been accused of several human rights abuses. People frequently tend to disappear after being detained by the Sri Lankan military, and the violence after the war ended has been a mixture of religious and ethnic conflicts, as well as push-back against government acquisitions of land and property, often by individual members of its military, probably for personal gain. Plus, it's only been ten years since the conclusion of a long civil war, so it shouldn't be surprising that not everyone is happy with the conclusion. Given that Christian churches were the primary targets of the recent bombings, that would seem to be religiously motivated. Christians make up a fairly small percentage of the country's population, which is about 70% Buddhist, followed by Hindu and Muslim. But, don't worry. The Pope has denounced the bombings in Sri Lanka so that should be over now.
I just read that it has been determined to be another Muslim extremist attacks based in Colombo but with support and coordination from "international" organizations.
You can't make this stuff up, folks!! The Pope also recently blamed the sexual misconduct of priests on the "sexual freedom and moral breakdown of the 1960's." Yeah. Somehow the '60s didn't make the rest of us pedophiles.
The somebody is known now. The IS has claimed responsibility for attacks in Sri Lanka which are supposed to be a retaliation for the killing in NZ .
