I just heard this song for the first time today... and it inspired me. Ever hear it? Believe it?
Mari, I never did. I am sad now, because I just realized I have never in my life been inspired by a song. No, not even "You"ll Never Walk Alone".
I have been saddened, even cried, but never inspired by a song. True life stories yes, songs no. I guess I missed a good thing in life.
I'm not sure about that, @Ruby Begonia ... the other side of that coin is that maybe you're fortunate that you never *needed* to be inspired by a song? But that's just me looking for the positive. I seem to be able to do that for others but never for myself.
By the way, I realized that if I'd written this song, I wouldn't have ruined it with that last stanza... didn't seem to fit. I'd have had the artist speaking to someone in what seemed to be an impossible situation and then slid into the chorus. But... I wasn't asked to collaborate on this one.
I'm like Ruby too, songs don't inspire me. They can make me cry though, even a happy song if it reminds me of another time.
I am the same as you and Ruby really, I had to think about the word inspiration in the end, so looked it up and got this:
Inspiration: stimulation or arousal of the mind, feelings, etc, to special or unusual activity or creativity
which means in the strict sense of the meaning, some songs and music do inspire a depth of feeling in me, and at times I feel motivated to dance or maybe weep.
One song that elates me is "The Wind Beneath My Wings" which is tied up with memories of my wife Pat, it was one of her favourite songs, so that I could call inspirational I guess
........................but then playing it now I am tearing up ............so I don't know really.......
I think, @Ruby Begonia , @Terry Page , and @Chrissy Page , that I probably used the wrong word. I should have said "touched" me... because it's nice to think that things deemed impossible may actually happen someday. But... well, in my head, that actually is a form of inspiration maybe.
In any case, you say to MAH to, I say to MAY to. How *do* you guys say it? I'm a "to MAY to" girl. And "po TAY to". Let's not call the whole thing off.
I always liked this one, Terry... the world needs a whole lot of new heroes, doesn't it? Even the unseen and unsung variety.
Yes Mari sadly they are a dying breed
This song lifts me up as well, for the same reasons as "Wind beneath my Wings" does....
Bingo, Mari! Yes, touched is the word, oh yes I have.
Yes very good we got there in the end, thanks so it's not impossible to reason things out.
But Terrrrrrrrrrrrrry! It's not as much fun! And much too adult-like. I need to be a kid sometimes. (That was my whiny voice, could you tell?) @Terry Page
Sorry Mari I had my left brain kicked in, solving problems was my forte, now I create them you can have fun other ways
