Managed to find an interview with the great Sammy Cahn, he who wrote such great classics still being recorded today. I am such a fan, I decided to find his biography. Could only find one on Amazon US. Didn't think I could order it from there, but 'logged in' to see And - yay !! It worked ! Will cost a pretty penny to get it but I so need cheering up, the past month has been tough ........... In my cheering up quest - I've also ordered a Sam Goldwyn book from our Amazon - oh, such joy - I'm cheered up now Don't take much really .............
I often order things from the US Amazon that aren't available or are cheaper than Amazon uk... particularly books I hope you enjoy it @Patsy Faye , it sounds like you need a bit of comfort reading..
I grew up where country music was King. Rock was coming on but not strong. Bands in my area couldn't make any money playbrock. I liked some of it but my music was country. I had not yet been introduced to classic, pop. Jazz was a no, no. Occasionally I'd hear music or a song in a movie that structure a chord. The man of the day in my neck of the wood was Hank Williams and the stars of the Grand Ole Opery, the Louisiana Hayride. I still look when some one includes a Hank Williams number on their album as Willie Nelson, singing with his sons has done. I like and enjoy a wide range of music now days and many nights fall asleep to some smooth jazz or Henry Mancini, Leonard Bernstein, or Elton John.
@Patsy Faye Agree about Mr. Cahn, great composer. His song list is very large and numerous hits. My personal favorite:
@Tim Burr and @Bill Boggs Seems we share the same taste and styles of music Bernstein was a genius of music My love of music is beyond important to me and I'm so glad I like so many different styles, keeps it all interesting Agree with 'all' mentioned above I've started the Goldwyn book, what an amazing 'young' man he was ! Hope he continued to be amazing
