North Carolina has been hit with a huge snow storm and it has paralyzed that state with power outages. It was predicted that snow was headed to the North Carolina/Virginia area, but they are having a difficult time dealing with it. Also in the U.K., my friend Maisie has informed me that in all her 90yrs, she has never witnessed mother nature's wrath such as they are seeing right now. And for those in the South, Mississippi, et al, please be aware that we know what those flood waters are doing to you. Anyone on this forum from those areas, my prayers are with you.
Sorry to hear this and yes, the North here has been hit very badly, 3 storms lasting days at a time - in 3 months ! Many flooded out of their homes and businesses - heart breaking to witness the devastation
I suspect the definition of a huge snowstorm is different in North Carolina than it would be in Maine. When I lived in North Carolina, they closed the schools and many businesses closed because of about an eighth of an inch of snow, which had melted by 10 am.
Very true, for when we lived in Huntersville, NC for a little over a year. An inch or two of snow and Charlotte shut down. Of course, Charlotte isn't like Denver area, when it comes to winter. Much more winter here.
As storms go, this one wasn't much of a storm. The TV is making a big deal of it but then they always do. The roads in this area are clear except possibly the smaller back roads. The snow is melting quickly.
My sister just sent me a picture of the most recent snowstorm. She lives on top of a mountain with a steep twisty road down. I'd be a wreck...….it's been over 41 years since I've driven in snow.
I drove in snow just last week. Just a part of living here. And, just think, we left Florida to return to here. Good choice for us, but folks in Florida thought we were crazy.
1977, Friend of mine moved from New Orleans to upstate NY. Drove a late sixties Camaro with a really steep rear end ratio. Ten minutes into his first snowy drive,he was in the ditch, "I knew snow was cold, bur I didn't know it was slippery!"
Expecting violent storm (force 10 -11) for tomorrow (Sunday). If you don't see me here, I'll be sitting in the cellar.
